For those of us with Introverted Intuition or Introverted Feeling as our primary mode of being in the world, becoming aware of our bodies can feel uncomfortable at best and traumatic at worst. That is until we've practiced in safe spaces where we allow ourselves to think and feel about our bodies however we want. We begin to incorporate the shadowy aspects of Extroverted Sensing.
Extroverted Sensing is how we navigate the physical tangible world. Since us INF types have Extroverted Sensing in our lower functions, basically unconscious of them, we have a tendency to remove ourselves from the physical world as often as possible through dissociation, daydreaming, zoning out, or even simply ignoring basic biological needs such as food, water, and s*x.
When we remove ourselves from our bodies, our bodies go into a dysregulated state which can lead to anxiety, depression, panic, mania, or lethargy. Part of the individuation process for Introverted Feelers and Intuitives is becoming conscious of the body and its needs, cultivating a dialogue with the body as a friend or companion rather than an enemy, and taking small steps to incorporate body awareness into your day through breathing practices, meal planning, scheduled breaks for movement, or spontaneous dancing in the kitchen!
