After years of tests and doctor appointments, Birdie Rose finally received answers about her fragile skin condition.

At just seven years old, Birdie was diagnosed with progeria, a rare disease that causes premature ageing and affects the entire body. Finding the right diagnosis and treatment changed more than her healthcare journey.

It helped her gain the confidence and ability to play and live more comfortably – something all children should have.

Life Entabeni Hospital and Life EMS were proud to partner with the Pick n Pay Durban Sunrise Run on Saturday, 26 September 2026, welcoming an incredible 3000 runners to the event.

Our teams were there to support the runners along the route, handing out water sachets, bananas, potatoes and cold drinks to help keep everyone refreshed and fuelled as they took on the challenge.

Life Entabeni Hospital Pharmacy brought Pharmacy Month 2026 to life under this year’s theme, ""Ask Your Pharmacist — Your Pharmacist, Your Partner in Health.""

The Life Entabeni Hospital Pharmacy team turned education into an engaging experience through interactive activities, ward-based learning, educational videos and community outreach.

From “Spin The Ton” in the foyer to clinical challenges, medicine-themed games and a creative hat competition, staff were encouraged to learn more about the safe and effective use of medicines, while highlighting the important role pharmacists play as partners in health.

The programme also extended beyond our hospital, with outreach to Nazareth House Aged Care Facility and patient education in our Paediatric Ward.

A special thank you to the Life Entabeni Hospital Pharmacy team for their creativity, dedication and commitment to patient safety and education throughout Pharmacy Month.
