Movement Intellect

Movement Intellect Welcome to our boutique studio. Movement Intellect is about celebrating movement. It's about nourishing the body and mind connection.

A place where we offer movement classes and personal training sessions for body-mind wellbeing (including Reformer Pilates, Equipment Pilates, Yoga, Fascia Movement & Release work and Mindfulness) During Pilates classes we'll focus on moving your body in a skilful and functional way that will help improve mobility and strength where you need it most in your daily life. We feel strongly about the

fact that mindful movement is a form of meditation. If you join for a specific meditation session the focus is on guiding you through your own experience.

The FAMO FAscia MOvement certification route has 4 modules:

Module 4 - FAMO Body Reading & Rebalancing

A 3 day practical course that supports your skill development by focusing on 6 common postural patterns and well-defined, coherent movement strategies.

Nutshell - Learn to assess postural and movement patterns, recognise myofascial implications, notice resources and learn how to utilise all of this to create clear, resource-oriented exercise programs.

The posture-based movement program addresses both short-term goals, such as pain reduction, enhanced wellbeing, and an energy boost, as well as long-term objectives, including postural balance, sustainable movement functionality, and vitality. The course content is directly applicable in one-on-one settings and highly valuable for group lessons.

You will learn the 7-step Body Reading process, learn and practice assessing the body’s structural relationships, evaluating the alignment of bones relative to each other and their effects on the involved muscles and fascia. The body reading language we use is consistent with the Anatomy Trains (ATSI) work.

You will receive a practical set of FAMO Body Reading & Rebalancing evaluation forms to support real-life implementation.

FAMO Body Reading & Rebalancing is the final step to becoming a certified FAMO Fascia Movement Teacher! No tests, no exams. After 12 days of comprehensive in person (or online) training and a recommended 220 hours of self study you are well prepared!

Module 3: FAMO Practice 1

This is a 3 day experience proven repertoire course. It features essential exercises and all-time FAMO favourites. This multidimensional selection of fascia-focused exercises benefits the whole body-mind.

Nutshell - We learn the exercises and how to teach and modify them for yourself and your diverse clients (and or patients).

The exercise selection will utilise and benefit all 12 fascial movement qualities (FAMO Focus) and the 12 myofascial meridians (Anatomy Trains in Motion).

Anatomy Trains in Motion (Module 1) teaches us the WHAT, FAMO Focus (Module 2), the WHY, FAMO Practice 1 (Module 3) is when we build the bridge to the HOW. By now you have an in depth understanding of myofascial anatomy, of the fascial system and the 12 fascia movement qualities we can deliberately train, so the HOW feels like an intuitive natural progression.

You will gain a solid understanding of exercises ideally suited for posture-based movement programs. You will learn applied training techniques, breathing patterns, variations, adaptations, and the use of massage tools and supportive props to best suit the individual in front of you (whether private sessions or group class environments).

Following the course you will have a comprehensive understanding of how fascial movement qualities are deliberately utilised, trained, and enhanced with specific exercises and sequences.

The next FAMO Practice 1 courses I am hosting and teaching:
19-21 March 2027
Miller’s Way Project, London
9am-5pm

(South Africa dates 5-7th March 2027 to be confirmed)

Module 1 and 2 are pre-requisites for this course.

Alternatively you are welcome to DM me your telephone number so we can have a meaningful conversation and I can answer your questions.

A practical, comprehensive 3 day course about fascia, for professionals in the field of movement, health, bodywork, or therapy.

Nutshell- We learn about FASCIA tin depth hrough practical demonstrations and movement.

During the course we identify the architectural, anatomical, and functional features of the fascial system. We also comprehend and experience through movement the meaning and functional value of the 12 fascial movement qualities (unique to the art of motion!). Learn fascia-focused skills and knowledge to not only bring a new dimension to your movement classes, bodywork, or therapy sessions but enhance your (your client’s/patients) body-mind vitality and wellbeing.

Fascia in Focus, Web of Connection for Body-Mind Integrity by Karin Gurtner is the foundation of this course. The work is experience-based and science-informed. Thomas W Myers says - ‘Well researched, well-written, and most of all, deeply felt, this book will guide you into your self. These practises build strength without aggression, sensitivity without fragility, and the ability to simply be in movement without ‘doing’.

The FAMO FAscia MOvement certification route has 4 modules:

Module 1: Anatomy Trains in Motion

A practical, in-depth 3 day myofascial anatomy course for movement and bodywork professionals.

It offers a helpful model to understand the complexity of the body. The Anatomy Trains in Motion course is officially recognised by Thomas (and I had to pass my Educator ‘test’ with him directly).

The Anatomy Trains in Motion course, written and developed by Karin Gurtner of Swiss based .academy , are for Movement Teachers and Manual Therapists with an interest to facilitate structural integration through MOVEMENT.

Happy Women’s day South Africa! I hope you felt celebrated and nurtured today, to help with that I have a gift for you. Check out my YouTube channel for a free class I’ve recorded for you.

The theme for Women’s day this year is “Building Resilient Economies for all”. I believe building resilience starts ‘at home’, if we cultivate our own resilience we are in a much better position to support our family & friends...grow the team...lead in the office...ultimately build a resilient business and economy.

Resilience to me is the ability to adapt, recover, learn from the experience and move forward, while in the process staying true to our core values and purpose. It is the capacity to meet life’s challenges with courage, adapt to change and grow through adversity.

Can we learn courage, inner ease, how to better manage stress, train flexibility and adaptability (physical and emotional) on the exercise mat?
I believe that’s a good place to start!

I hope you enjoy the class 💖

A month ago I arrived at Ashuma, a magical retreat venue in the Mountains of Montenegro.

I loved hosting a retreat there and highly recommend them if you’re searching for your next retreat venue.

If you are looking for a venue where your retreaters can truly immerse themselves in nature, Ashuma is perfect.

Ashuma has a calm yet vibrant energy, alive with butterflies, insects and plant life, yet the steadiness of mountains and the wisdom of ancient trees, that holds space for you.

The owners (guardians seems a better word) and staff are kind, friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about the environment. Ashuma ‘does retreats’ for a living so you are in capable, experienced hands. The studios were well equipped with yoga mats, blocks, bolsters, belts, blankets…and plenty of fresh air and scenery. One nestled in a valley of ferns, where if you lucky, a wild bunny forages while you’re practicing. The other surrounded by dense trees and sanctifying stillness.

We received 2 nourishing vegetarian meals a day and it felt abundant, the food was absolutely delicious and fresh, we never had the same thing twice.

Ashuma offers additional workshops and day trips which can be really useful if you host & teach your retreats individually like I do. We absolutely loved the Skadar lake trip & wild swimming and the Wolf trial mountain walk was spectacular.

We also enjoyed the Russian and Finnish saunas, followed by the ice plunge…and the view from here…jaw dropping!

Evenings around the fire pit under the stars offered special bonding moments between retreaters.

It’s a month since the retreat but I still catch myself daydreaming about doing an early morning movement practice on my private veranda, hearing an orchestra of cicadas as I walk to the dining hall, marvel at the valley of ferns around the Shala…and the butterflies, and the views, and the smoothies, and the views…and nature awake and alive around (and within) me.

You can find all the information about this venue on www.ashuma.me
( and then send me the dates so I can attend as a student next time😉)

This last week has been challenging for me, on a business and personal level.

My anxiety levels felt off the charts Thursday and Friday…so this morning I hiked…

Whether it’s putting one foot in front of the other, noticing the small things or the big views, maybe just the crisp fresh air, but my mind ia finally calmer and I feel so much more at ease.

Walking in nature has a way with me.
What is your ‘go to’ when the whirlpool feels uncontrollable around you?
