Khethelo Madondo is a distinguished pianist, vocalist, and accomplished band leader, as well as a proud University of KwaZulu-Natal alumnus, where he majored in jazz piano. His profoundly expressive and technically refined sound is shaped by eminent influences such as Abdullah Ibrahim, Bheki Mseleku, Nina Simone, Robert Glasper, and Busi Mhlongo. He has performed on prestigious stages alongside celebrated artists including MXO, Salim Washington, Neil Gonzalez, Benjamin Dube, and Oudskulomelo, among others. Currently based in vibrant Johannesburg, he is meticulously developing a highly anticipated debut project—rooted in sophisticated jazz and soul traditions while integrating contemporary elements of amapiano and Afrobeat. His work promises to make a significant contribution to modern South African music. Septober Energy is proud to present an obscure and experimental solo performance by Khethelo at the Wildflowers series on Friday, 27th March—an unmissable event for lovers of innovative music.
