A lot of the pain isn't just what happened, it's the story we tell ourselves, the "this always happens to me", "this proves I'm not enough", "this is how it's going to be forever" part. Those stories feel real because they're built to protect us, but they often end up keeping the wound open. What hurts isn't always the wound, but the story that keeps reopening it. What if we retold the story, and gave ourselves some grace?
