Understanding risk is one of the most important skills in pregnancy.

The question is rarely, “Is it safe?” The better question is, “Safe compared to what?”

This September, join my Confident Decision-Making in Pregnancy Workshop and learn how to move from uncertainty to clear, confident decisions.

Choose to attend in person (limited seats for a small-group experience) or online from anywhere.

Registration is now open at DrElsaDuToit.com.

Women’s Day is a celebration, but it is also a reminder.

One day each year, we celebrate women.
The other 364 days are where the real work happens.
Women continue to carry families, careers, relationships, and the invisible mental load that so often goes unnoticed. Mothers make hundreds of decisions every day. Some important, others routine, most of them unseen, and almost all of them made while putting someone else first.

Perhaps the reminder Women’s Day gives us is this: caring for women should never be a once-a-year event.
It requires ongoing support. Space for honest conversations, not only about the wellbeing of our families, but also about the health and wellbeing of the women holding them together. It means recognising that self-care is not a luxury or a reward. It is part of caring for the whole family system.

Happy Women’s Day!

May we continue building a world where women are supported, listened to, and empowered to make confident decisions about their own health and wellbeing, knowing that these decisions ultimately strengthen the health and wellbeing of their families too.

Every clinician who prescribes in pregnancy knows this feeling.

The evidence is incomplete.
The guidelines don’t always agree.
The stakes couldn’t be higher.

Clinical confidence doesn’t come from eliminating uncertainty.
It comes from learning how to navigate it.

If you’re ready to move beyond simply knowing the evidence to making clear, defensible prescribing decisions, I’d love you to join us.

Is more information making pregnancy treatment decisions harder?

We have more studies, guidelines and opinions than ever. Yet, decisions about medication use in pregnancy remain difficult.

Sometimes more information simply adds to the noise -more options, without clarity on which is best.

The challenge is knowing how to interpret the evidence, contextualise the data and apply it to the real world.

Studies provide data. They cannot make clinical decisions for us.

That requires a framework.

For healthcare professionals, join me for Perinatal Psychopharmacology: From Data to Decisions - four weeks of moving from evidence to clearer, more confident clinical decisions.

If you are a woman struggling to make sense of treatment decisions during pregnancy or postpartum, the ARC Workshops are now open.
