ENERGY DOESN’T COME FROM FOOD ALONE. ☀️

Food provides the raw materials and fuel — but your cells also depend on light, oxygen and efficient mitochondrial function to produce energy.

Modern life has dramatically reduced our exposure to natural light.

Less light → disrupted biology → less cellular vitality.

Could your cells be asking for more light?

✨ Light is more than sunshine. It’s biological information.

Plastic bottled water may be the worst everyday choice. 💧

We smell chlorine in tap water and panic…
Then happily drink water that has been sitting in plastic through warehouses, delivery trucks and hot car boots—because the label has a mountain on it.

But which water is actually healthiest?

Municipal tap water:
When the local system is functioning properly, it is treated to control dangerous bacteria and routinely monitored. However, quality varies dramatically across South Africa. In 2023, the Department of Water and Sanitation reported that 46% of water-supply systems had poor or bad microbiological compliance. Your municipality matters.

Borehole water:
It may taste natural and contain useful minerals—but clear water is not automatically clean water. Boreholes can contain bacteria, nitrates, pesticides, excess salts and naturally occurring metals. Private groundwater should be laboratory-tested at least annually and treated according to the actual results.

Plastic bottled water:
Convenient? Absolutely. Automatically purer? No.

A 2024 study detected an average of approximately 240,000 plastic particles in one liter of bottled water, with about 90% classified as nanoplastics. The long-term health implications are still being investigated, so we should not claim that every bottle causes disease—but the exposure is real.

So, which is best?

Not tap.
Not borehole.
Not bottled.

The healthiest water is water that has been tested, appropriately treated and stored without unnecessary plastic exposure.

A mountain on a label is marketing.
A laboratory report is evidence.

What are you drinking—municipal, borehole or bottled—and have you ever actually tested it?

Your “healthy” cup of tea may be serving something you never ordered… microplastics. ☕

Some tea bags contain nylon, polypropylene, PET or other plastic-based fibres. When exposed to boiling water, they release micro- and nanoplastic particles directly into your drink.

Even bags labelled “biodegradable” or “plant-based” are not automatically plastic-free.

The easiest way to reduce your exposure?

Choose loose-leaf tea and brew it in a stainless-steel or glass infuser.

What tea bags are you using?

Researchers compared two bacteria isolated from kimchi.

Under ordinary laboratory conditions, CBA3656 (Leuconostoc mesenteroides) captured approximately 87% of the polystyrene nanoplastics in the solution.

More importantly, under conditions designed to resemble the human intestine, it retained roughly 57% binding efficiency. The comparison strain’s binding dropped to about 3% under the same intestinal conditions.

It acts like biological Velcro!

The correct term is biosorption. The plastic adheres to the outside of the bacterial cell rather than being absorbed, metabolised or digested.

Who would have guessed that tea bags would be in the top 5 places you are going to pick up microplastics.👀

Your body is not designed to run in survival mode forever.

It is designed to adapt, regulate, recover and find its way back toward balance.

That internal balancing process is called homeostasis.

It is how your body constantly adjusts things like temperature, energy use, stress response, hydration, blood sugar and sleep rhythms—so your cells can keep doing their everyday work.

When life becomes overloaded with stress, poor sleep, inactivity, highly processed food or constant pressure, it can feel harder to maintain that balance.

And when you feel out of balance, you may notice it in the way you move, sleep, recover, focus and cope with everyday demands.

Supporting wellness is not about promising a quick fix.

It is about creating the right daily conditions for your body to do what it was designed to do:

✨ Support healthy recovery
✨ Support energy and vitality
✨ Support resilience during everyday stress
✨ Support an active, balanced lifestyle

Small daily choices matter: quality sleep, movement, hydration, nourishing food, sunlight, rest—and choosing wellness tools that support your overall routine.

You do not have to wait until you feel completely depleted to start supporting your body.

Comment BALANCE or message me on WhatsApp if you would like to learn about the daily wellness routine I use to support energy, vitality and recovery.

⚠️Nanoplastics are implicated in cardiovascular disease⚠️

A study published March 2024 by Raffaele Marfella, M.D., Ph.D. showed that micro plastics were linked to serious cardiovascular events.

This study examined 257 people undergoing surgery for carotid-artery disease. Micro- or nanoplastics were detected in the arterial plaques of 150 patients.

Over approximately 34 months, patients whose plaques contained plastic had a substantially higher risk of heart attack, stroke or death than those without detected plastic. The plaques containing plastic also showed more inflammatory activity.
