BREAKING: 25-Year-Old Turns Chip Packets Waste Into Stunning Handwoven Cloth That Employs 10 South African Workers

A 25-year-old man from Umlazi is turning discarded chip packets into colourful mats and fashionable clothing using traditional weaving skills passed down by his grandmother.

Minenhle Simelane started recycling plastic waste after seeing pollution destroy the Umlazi River where he once swam and fished. His creations later went viral on Facebook, attracting a flood of orders.

Today, he runs Umlazi Art and Recycling and employs 10 people, transforming plastic waste into handmade mats, bags and fashion items.
