πŸ’™ AND WE HAVE A WINNER! πŸŽ‰

A huge congratulations to 🌸 Rose Maguire 🌸, who has won herself a 5L Air Fryer! πŸ₯³πŸŽ

Rose, we hope this prize brings plenty of healthy and delicious meals to your home! πŸ’™

And to EVERYONE who entered our competition β€” THANK YOU! πŸ™πŸ½ Your participation, comments, tags and shares meant so much to us.

But this campaign was about so much more than winning an air fryer.

πŸ’™ It was about awareness.
πŸ’™ It was about education.
πŸ’™ It was about sharing information that could potentially save a life.

Every time you shared a post, tagged a friend or started a conversation about diabetes, you helped us reach someone who may have needed that information.

Sometimes, a simple social media post can be the first step towards someone recognising a warning sign, learning something new, seeking help or making a healthier choice.

That is the deeper purpose behind what we do. πŸŒπŸ’™

We want to continue creating a community where information is shared, conversations are encouraged and people feel empowered to take their health seriously.

So please don't stop sharing. Keep talking. Keep learning. Keep spreading awareness. Because the information you share today could make a difference to someone tomorrow.

Thank you for standing with Diabetes South Africa – Durban and for helping us build a healthier, more informed community. πŸ’™

Congratulations once again, Rose! πŸŽ‰πŸ‘πŸ½

🚨 "YOUR BODY IS WHISPERING..."

Most people don't wake up one day and suddenly have diabetes.
Your body often whispers long before it screams.

🚩 Constant thirst.
🚩 Feeling exhausted after a full night's sleep.
🚩 Blurry vision.
🚩 Cuts that take forever to heal.
🚩 Needing the bathroom more often.

We ignore the whispers until they become a diagnosis.

πŸ’™ Don't wait.
This week, listen to your body.

πŸ‘‡ Comment below and let us know which of these symptoms you have experienced

She packs school lunches.
She remembers birthdays.
She cares for her parents.
She supports her family.
But when was the last time she had her blood sugar checked?

This Women's Month...
We celebrate the women who hold everything together.
And remind them...

πŸ’™ You deserve the same care you give everyone else.

πŸ‘£ Healthy feet start with healthy habits at home.

P.A.R.E.N.T.S ... One of the greatest gifts you can give your child is teaching them to care for their feet from a young age.

Take a few minutes each day to check their feet together. Make it part of your daily routine, just like brushing their teeth.

Teach them to look out for:
βœ”οΈ Cuts or scratches
βœ”οΈ Blisters
βœ”οΈ Redness
βœ”οΈ Swelling
βœ”οΈ Changes to the skin or nails

Children living with diabetes or those at risk, benefit from learning these habits early. It helps them become more aware of their bodies and encourages lifelong self-care.

πŸ’™ A simple foot check today can help prevent bigger problems tomorrow.

⚠️ It started as a tiny blister... Simz noticed a small blister on his foot after a long day. It didn't hurt, so he ignored it.

A few days later, the blister broke open. Still, he thought it would heal on its own. Weeks passed. The wound became infected.

What started as a tiny blister turned into a serious foot ulcer that required medical treatment and months of recovery.

For people living with diabetes, even the smallest foot injury can become a major problem if left untreated.
πŸ‘£ Check your feet every day.
πŸ‘£ Never ignore cuts, blisters, redness, or swelling.
πŸ‘£ Seek medical advice early if you notice any changes.

Early action can prevent serious complications and help protect your mobility and independence.

πŸ’™ Share this post to help someone avoid the same mistake.

❓Have you ever checked your feet for these warning signs?

Your feet can often tell you when something is wrong β€” but only if you know what to look for.

If you notice any of the following, don't wait. Seek medical advice as soon as possible:
πŸ”΄ Redness
🦢 Swelling
πŸ”₯ Warm skin
⚠️ Open wounds
⚫ Black spots or discolouration

For people living with diabetes, these warning signs could indicate infection, poor circulation, or a developing foot complication. Early treatment can prevent serious problems and help protect your mobility and independence.

Remember: what seems small today could become a major issue tomorrow.

πŸ’™ Save this list for future reference.
πŸ’™ Share it with someone living with diabetes.
