When people hear “stress”, they usually think about deadlines, worry, or emotional pressure. But body stress can also have physical and chemical causes.
Physical stress may come from falls, accidents, repetitive movement, poor posture, heavy lifting, or exercise that exceeds the body’s ability to adapt.
Emotional stress may show up physically when the jaw, neck, shoulders, or abdomen remain tense during periods of worry, shock, anger, or ongoing pressure.
Chemical stress refers to substances the body consumes, inhales, or absorbs, such as certain pollutants, insecticides, food additives, or products that an individual may be sensitive to.
These stresses do not affect every person in the same way. BSR focuses on how the individual body has responded and where tension may have become stored.
