From 05 to 09 October, we observe International Plasma Awareness Week, honouring the generosity of plasma donors whose contributions make life-saving treatments possible for patients living with life-threatening diseases and rare conditions.

This year's theme, "Plasma Powers Possibility," celebrates the vital role of plasma donors and raises awareness of the importance of plasma-derived medicinal products in improving and saving lives.

At National Bioproducts Institute (NBI), we salute plasma donors for helping bring hope, health, and possibility to those who need it most.

NBI was honoured to welcome representatives from the National Drug Service Organisation (NDSO) Lesotho to our site on 19 August 2026.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen our relationship, share insights and explore opportunities for continued collaboration in support of healthcare delivery across the region.

At NBI, we believe that strong partnerships are essential to improving access to quality healthcare products. By working together with organisations such as NDSO, we can explore practical opportunities to support patients and communities in Lesotho and contribute to stronger healthcare systems across Southern Africa.

We look forward to building on this engagement and identifying opportunities for meaningful collaboration in the future.

Nelson Mandela Day reminds us that meaningful change starts with collective action.

In honour of Mandela Day, NBI employees dedicated their 67 Minutes to making a difference through a Clothing & Shoe Donation Drive in support of St Vincent's Children's Home.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed. Your generosity will help provide warmth, comfort and dignity to the 75 children in the home's care, demonstrating the power of compassion, collaboration and community impact.

Thank you to NBI for creating opportunities to make a positive impact in our communities. Together, we're living Madiba's call to action and proving that "it's still in our hands to combat poverty and inequity."

Burns require timely and appropriate treatment, and awareness plays a vital role in reducing complications and long‑term harm. By supporting Burns Awareness Week, NBI reinforces its dedication to evidence‑based care, patient safety, and responsible pharmaceutical manufacturing, helping to create better healing journeys for patients.

Observed annually on 1 May, Workers’ Day is a time for reflection and appreciation. At NBI, we recognise and honour the contribution of workers across all sectors, whose dedication and hard work continue to drive our economy and strengthen our society.
We also acknowledge the important role played by the labour movement in advancing fair labour practices, dignity, and social justice in South Africa, as well as the sacrifices made by workers in the country’s journey toward democracy.
