Did you know that keto diets are associated with a VERY high risk of kidney stones?
These are the reasons why we think this happens. Essentially, a keto diet is lacking in all the GOOD things that prevent kidney stones 🥕🍆🍉🍅🥝and tends to have too much of the stuff that causes them 🍗🍖🥓.
I know all the promises of a keto diet are alluring, but in the vast majority of cases, a keto diet is not backed by quality research and is not a long term solution. It is nearly impossible to follow super restrictive diets like this long term - plus, who wants to live like that!?
I'm all about finding SUSTAINABLE, delicious and realistic solutions and preventing kidney stones. I promise, it is possible! I do it every day for my students in Kidney Stone Nutrition School!

ARE FROZEN VEGETABLES HEALTHY?!

Nothing surpasses the ease of using frozen vegetables when it comes to cooking and presenting a quick supper. They are simple to create, fit well in your freezer, and last for a long time. However, you may be unsure whether frozen vegetables can be a healthy addition to a well-rounded diet.
Well let's see.
Most of the nutrients in frozen veggies are preserved since they are often frozen right after after harvest. The nutritional content of some vegetables may be impacted by freezing, but most vegetables are not. Studies have actually found that frozen veggies like broccoli had higher levels of vitamin B2 than fresh broccoli
Although, most vegetables are free of additives and preservatives, some may contain added sugar or salt, therefore, it is also important the check the ingredient list carefully.
