Sunday — God Is in Control
There was a time in my life when I thought I was in control.
I had my plans, my work, my family, my possessions and my idea of where my life was going.
Then everything changed.
I found myself in a government hospital in Cape Town, far away from my family in the Eastern Cape. I had no medical aid. I was seriously ill, and I was told I had liver disease.
I remember what it felt like to be there.
I couldn't see a way forward.
I had gone from the life I knew to lying in a hospital bed, wondering what was going to happen to me.
At first, I asked:
“Why me, God?”
But somewhere along that journey, something changed inside me.
I stopped asking God to give me back the life I had lost…
…and I started asking Him to show me the life He wanted me to live.
That was the beginning of understanding what “God is in control” really means.
Today, when something happens that I don't understand, I try not to immediately see it as something bad.
Sometimes God is protecting you.
Sometimes He is redirecting you.
Sometimes He is removing something from your life because He has something greater planned.
I didn't understand that when I was lying in that hospital.
But I understand it now.
So this Sunday, wherever you are and whatever you're facing, remember:
You may not understand the test you're going through.
You may not see the road ahead.
But that doesn't mean God isn't working.
Thank Him for waking you up today. Thank Him for your family. Thank Him for the blessings you can see—and even for the challenges that are shaping you.
Trust the journey.
Trust the process.
Trust God.
Because I've lived through a test that I once thought would break me…
…and today, I can look back and say:
God was with me the whole time. 🙏
