I saw a question asked on a group today about Perimenopause / Menopause and painful hips. The question was, can it be due to Menopause and if so, WHY?
I thought it may be helpful to share my reply and this info as to why this happens.
Hope this helps...
The reason is fluctuating hormones in decline. There are Estrogen receptors all over our body and in most systems. Joints, bones, eyes (noticed vision decline?), brain (cognition, mood, memory, sleep), muscle (feeling weaker and battling to open a tight lidded jar these days or pick up anything heavy?). Many areas are affected when Estrogen is in decline and nothing or less to bind to the receptors. Also, its not JUST estrogen, its also the new varying / imbalanced ratios between the hormones that create chaos. Remember that testosterone is actually our dominant hormone too!! Its relationship to estrogen qnd progesterone is critical, especially at this time. As this happens, you start to FEEL it.
Regarding bone health...
Estrogen plays a critical role in bone "metabolism". Oteoclasts (cells that break down bone) continue to increase as there is no longer Estrogen to inhibit this process (think of estrogen as the controller) and Osteoblasts, the cells that BUILD bone have a shorter lifespan, so an imbalance/ ratio deficit begins.
Its important to also consider, regardless of hrt or not, good and neccessary supplements. Vit D3 (which is actually a s*x hormone) and K2 (fat soluble and neccessary for absorption and transportation) and Magnesium for the support of this system and its pathways. A magnesium glycinate is a good option, but Magnesium L Threonate is ultimate because it crosses blood brain barrier, so really helpful on yhe sleep etc side as well. Sont be shy with omega 3 (body does not produce this naturally) and is crucial for many functions related to all this too, especially brain and gut etc. A good B Co for your nervous system goes a long way. These are not things that your body just "pees out" as GPS insisted for years. They are called ESSENTIAL vitamins and minerals for a reason. They are requires for the functioning of cellular health.
There are also many natural first line options you can look at for early support too, like Ashwagandha (can increase testosterone- that's a GOOD thing), black cohosh for symptoms like hot flashes, sleep issues, mood swings etc (can be used for girls and young women too witn pms issues), DIM for better estrogen metabolism (better availability and usage of "good estrogen" and better elimination and detox of the "bad estrogen ").
I am a huge fan of peptides too, but that's a whole other conversation. Worth looking into, but PLEASE speak to PEPTIDE QUALIFIED people for accurate information, DONT randomly listen to multiple influencers for this.
Here is my page (Im not always consistently active on it, but share nuggets occasionally) and you can see my qualifications.
In process of peptide international certification. Will upload when complete.
Hope this helps.
