🌸 Happy International Woman's Day.

Just like flowers, woman have different personalities, beauty and strength.

Women are not meant to look the same, grow the same, or bloom at the same time.

This is also true for health and wellness.

Stop comparing your body or your health to someone else’s journey. Rather focus on caring for your own body in a way that suits who you are.

Today is World Obesity Day.

Obesity is often simplified into a basic formula: eat less, move more.

But mathematics does not fully explain human biology.

Obesity is a complex, chronic condition influenced by genetics, hormones, environment, stress, sleep, and lived experience.

When we oversimplify obesity, we oversimplify people.

Reducing it to willpower alone increases stigma and delays meaningful solutions.

Complex problems deserve thoughtful, individualised care.

🎯 What is realistic (for you)
🎯 What is possible (for you)
.. and only then will you be able to see results

Februarie is Gesonde Leefstyl Bewusmakingsmaand.

Vir my is dit een van die mees waardevolle maande op die Suid-Afrikaanse gesondheidskalender. Dit skep ruimte om oor leefstylmedisyne te praat — 'n gebied van gesondheid wat dikwels onderskat word.

Leefstyl "medisyne" fokus op die alledaagse leefstylkeuses wat ons maak en wat oor tyd ons gesondheid vorm. Dit is nie 'n kitsoplossing nie, maar praktiese en volhoubare keuses om lewensgehalte te verbeter.

Terwyl Februarie 'n maand is wat algemeen met liefde geassosieer word, wil ek julle aanmoedig om hierdie jaar te d**k oor hoe jy vir jouself omgee en lief is. Begin om tyd te maak vir jouself en jou gesondheid.

Deur hierdie maand sal ek insigte deel oor gesonde leefstylkeuses en hoe klein, konsekwente veranderinge 'n betekenisvolle verskil kan maak oor tyd.

The Big Five of Lifestyle Medicine form the foundation of long-term health:

• Movement
• Nutrition
• Sleep and Rest
• Stress Management
• Mindset and Motivation

These five areas are largely shaped by daily habits. They are practical, measurable, and within your influence through consistent action.

There are, however, additional aspects that also play an important role in overall health:

• Risk Avoidance
• Social Support
• Spiritual Health

These dimensions function slightly differently. Some extend beyond individual daily habits and involve broader life context, relationships, and deeper reflection.

If living a healthy lifestyle interests you, it is worth considering all of these aspects... not in pursuit of perfection, but in pursuit of balance and long-term well-being.
