What is Strapping and How Can It Help You?

Strapping (also known as sports taping) is a technique used by physiotherapists to support joints, muscles, and ligaments during movement and recovery.
It can help with:

✔️ Providing extra support and stability to injured areas
✔️ Reducing pain during activity
✔️ Preventing further injury while healing
✔️ Allowing you to stay active safely

Strapping is commonly used for conditions such as ankle sprains, knee pain, neck pain, shoulder injuries, and wrist strain but can also be used to facilitate muscle activity.

Every strapping technique is applied specifically for your injury and your activity level, whether you’re returning to sport, work, or everyday movement.
If you’re struggling with pain or recovering from an injury, physiotherapy strapping may help support your recovery.

What is Dry Needling?

Dry needling is a physiotherapy treatment used to relieve muscle pain and tightness.

A very thin sterile needle is inserted into specific trigger points (tight bands in muscle) to help release tension, improve blood flow, and reduce pain.

It is commonly used for conditions such as:
• Neck and back pain
• Sports injuries
• Muscle spasms
• Tension headaches
• Shoulder or hip pain

Despite using needles, dry needling is different from acupuncture. It is based on modern musculoskeletal and anatomical principles and is used to treat muscle dysfunction.

Most patients feel a small twitch or brief ache, followed by a sense of muscle release and improved movement.

Dry needling is always performed by a trained physiotherapist using sterile single-use needles.

If you have persistent muscle pain or tightness, dry needling may be one of the techniques your physiotherapist uses as part of your treatment plan.

Come this November I will be cycling the 947 Ride Joburg cycle race for CHOC in support of children’s cancer. I will be attempting to do the double (ride it once then do it all over again) as part of the apocalypse cows and need to raise money for CHOC. Any sponsors or donations would be greatly appreciated. All donations will go towards a great cause and one that is very close to my heart.

I will be hosting a spinathon at the victory park Virgin Active in September so please look out for the details for this, they will b coming out soon.

Below is the link to my donation page for anyone that wants to donate.
