I meet people all the time who, when they find out how many animals I have, look at me like I’m absolutely bats**t crazy.

And they’d be 100% right. 😂

Then, without fail, comes the question:

“But are you single?”

Yes. But let’s get something straight.

I don’t rescue animals because I’m single.

I’m single because I rescue animals. 😂

I don’t go out looking for humans.
I go out looking for animals.

And somehow, the animals always seem to come looking for me too.

My life is loud, chaotic, covered in hair, ridiculously expensive and completely taken over by creatures who need me.

And you know what?

That’s what makes me happy. ❤️🐾

The Cart Horse unit is out and about on a Sunday — in fact, they’re on the road every single day, doing what they do best: looking after Cape Town’s working cart horses. ❤️🐴

We NEED organisations like this.

Please support them. Donate to them. Follow them. The work they do is absolutely incredible and these horses need them.

Kat Search Update 🐾

We’re back at Cape Town International Airport today and heading back into the domestic arrivals baggage area.

We’ve identified a new area that we really want to focus on. There’s a large ledge high up near the roof, so we’ll be searching with powerful spotlights and checking every possible hiding place.

We now have a communicator on board, who’ll be joining us again from 3 pm, and we currently have three traps set with some very smelly bait (we’re just waiting at KFC to collect the snacks!).

We’ve also had some wonderful support from staff at Menzies, and Airlink has continued assisting us with the search, which we really appreciate.

I’m also incredibly grateful that Paulette, who previously ran Kitten Cottage, has come back to help. She was instrumental in helping us find Coco, climbing into roofs and searching places most people wouldn’t even think to look. Having her here gives us even more hope.

We’re staying positive. We truly believe Kat is still here, and we are not giving up until we bring this beautiful boy home.

🚨 Missing Cat from an Airlink Flight – Not the First Time 🚨

This is now Day 4, and Baba is still missing.

This isn’t the first time I’ve been involved in a case like this. The last cat, Kitter, disappeared after an Airlink flight and was never found.

Baba is a much-loved family member. She is terrified, alone, and somewhere within or around Cape Town International Airport.

Menzies is responsible for handling live animals and baggage from check-in through to loading onto the aircraft. What I have witnessed has been beyond shocking. We have now seen multiple incidents involving missing cats, yet there appears to be no effective emergency response when a pet disappears. These are living, breathing animals entrusted to the aviation industry, not pieces of luggage, and they deserve to be handled with the utmost care and urgency.

Despite the urgency, the response has been incredibly disappointing. Sniffer dogs have been brought in to search the baggage area, but now we’re being told the permit office is closed, delaying further efforts. This is simply not acceptable when a live animal’s life is at stake.

These are not suitcases. They are beloved members of our families.

🚨 URGENT – WE HAVE NO FOOD LEFT 🚨

We are desperate.

Right now, The Thomas Jackson Foundation Animal Rescue has no food left. I haven’t been able to work for the past four weeks, so there has been virtually no income coming in, and donations are now few and far between. I honestly don’t know how I am going to feed everyone.

We urgently need donations of:
• Pilchards in tomato sauce (tins or bulk)
• Chicken breasts
• Chicken livers
• Chicken hearts
• Chicken giblets
• Hake
• White rice
• Butternut
• Pumpkin
• Carrots
• Green beans
• Dog kibble
• Cat kibble
• Husky tinned dog food
• Pampers cat food (tins and jelly)

If anyone knows where we can buy pilchards in bulk at a reduced price, or if a supplier is able to donate stock, please let us know.

We are also struggling to pay our outstanding veterinary accounts at Claremont Veterinary Hospital and College Veterinary Clinic in Gordon’s Bay. If anyone is able to contribute directly towards these accounts, it would mean the world to us.

We care for over 160 animals who rely on us for every meal, every day. They have nowhere else to go.

I am doing everything I possibly can to keep going, but I cannot do this alone. Without food and support, I am facing the heartbreaking possibility of having to surrender some of the animals simply because I cannot feed them. That is something I never thought I would have to consider.

If you can donate even one tin of pilchards, a bag of rice, a bag of kibble, some vegetables, or contribute towards our vet bills, it will make a real difference.

Please don’t assume someone else will help. If you’ve ever wanted to support our rescue, we need you now more than ever.
