Happy Father’s Day, Dad.

I still can’t believe you’re gone. 💔

Six days ago, I flew to the UK to be by your side. I knew you weren’t well, but I never imagined that I would lose you just two hours into my flight.

I never got the chance to look into your eyes and tell you how much I love you, to tell you what a wonderful father you were, or to hold your hand one last time. Most of all, I never got the chance to be with you at the end.

Ever since I landed, I’ve felt alone.

Being in the UK without you just doesn’t feel right.

My dad was born in England and studied dentistry at Guy’s in London. Growing up, he rubbed shoulders with royalty and was an incredible athlete, breaking many track and field records, especially in hurdling. He was an incredibly handsome man who attracted the attention of many beautiful women, including my mum, who still lives close to me in South Africa. He was the most wonderful, gentle dentist, with a passion for everything he did. His patients adored him, his staff loved him, and he had a remarkable way of making people feel cared for and valued. He also gifted me a passion for dentistry that would shape my own life.

I’ve planned to visit all your favourite places and all the places you took me to growing up. From your childhood home in Bristol and the Mansion House, to our favourite birding spots, garden centres, farm shops, and walks on the Downs. A cheeky little drink at the Coronation Tap, a visit to Hamleys in London, Friday night drinks at the tennis club in East Horsley, a shopping spree at the designer outlet in Swindon, pub lunches in Portishead, and drives through the countryside.

I want to walk these familiar paths, remember the stories, and feel close to the places that meant so much to you. Through them, I’ll feel a little closer to you too.

Health-wise, these last few years were not easy for either of us. But they never took your sense of humour, your kindness, your intelligence, or your deep love for your family and close friends. Even when things became difficult and your health deteriorated, you remained the same Dad I’d always known. But I could hear that you were tired.

A little bit of honesty 🤍

None of the noise… none of the keyboard warriors… are worth it.
Life is already hard enough without people adding to it from behind a screen.

Running this sanctuary costs R160,000 a month.
That’s not a number — that’s lives. Over 160 animals depending on me every single day.

A lack of donations has also taken its toll…
Although I am incredibly grateful for the support sweet Bo has received — thank you 🤍

But here’s the part people don’t see…

The last few weeks, my anxiety has been so bad that I haven’t even been able to brush my hair.
It’s so matted that even the Gordon’s Bay wind can’t move it.

That’s what this pressure looks like behind the scenes.
That’s what carrying this responsibility — plus the criticism, the legal stress, the constant fight — actually does to a person.

Together with my lawyers, I am actively working to have Coco returned — a process that has placed an avoidable emotional and financial strain on an already demanding situation.

On the business front, I am also dealing with a legal battle involving a competitor whose actions are causing significant damage and disruption.

It’s a lot to carry at once.
And it’s a reminder that this world can be full of toxicity and greed.

And still… I show up.

But today, I’m drawing a line.

None of you keyboard warriors are worth it.
Not my peace. Not my health.

Today I’m taking back control.
Today is about me — and always about my babies.

I’m cutting my hair. I’m bringing back my pink.
I’m choosing to reset.

And most importantly…

Today I am choosing to smile 🤍
