Chronic medication and hospital admissions:

On admission to hospital, it is crucial to bring a copy of your most recent prescription as well as your own chronic medication. Having your medication and prescription at the hospital ensures that our medical staff and doctors know exactly what you are taking, in what dosages and what frequency to ensure continued therapy. This also enables our pharmacy staff to identify possible interactions and contra-indications. Prepacked medicine can make it difficult for our staff to identify your treatment correctly, due to the vast list of generics in the market. Therefore, bringing in the original packaging is suggested and preferred. Your health and safety are our top priority.

For more information, please speak to one of our pharmacists at Life West Coast Private Hospital. Contact number 022 719 1030.

Not sure what to do with expired or unused medication? Ask your pharmacist.

Expired medications can lose their effectiveness and may even be harmful. Rather than keeping them at home, take a step to make life better for you and your loved ones by disposing of them properly.

At Life West Coast Private Hospital, we care about your health and safety. That’s why we encourage you to consult your pharmacist for advice on safe disposal. They will guide you on how to return your medications, ensuring they are disposed of responsibly.

Ask your pharmacist today.
