It's the nurse who greets you by name before you've sat down. Who remembers your daughter just started school, and asks how she's settling in. Who knows what a good day looks like for you — and notices the days that aren't.

Your kidneys can be in trouble for years before you feel anything at all.

No pain, no warning — which is exactly why the two leading causes of kidney failure, high blood pressure and diabetes, catch so many people off guard.

Our Welkom team was at a wellness day hosted by RH Matjhabeng Hospital this week doing exactly those checks — free, quick, and no appointment needed. The response said it all: people want to know their numbers, they just need the chance.

Find that chance. A wellness day, your clinic, your nearest pharmacy — get your blood pressure and blood sugar checked, and check them again regularly. It's one of the simplest things you can do for your kidneys.
