Scabies is a contagious skin condition caused by tiny mites. It commonly causes:
🔹 Intense itching, especially at night.
🔹 Small, irritating bumps or rashes.
🔹 Disturbed sleep due to itching.
🔹 Similar itching or rashes among family members.

Sometimes alcohol gives us confidence we would not normally have.
It can make you take risks, trust quickly, and make decisions you might regret the next morning.

Before you initiate sex—especially after drinking—pause and think.

🩺 KNOW YOUR STATUS. PROTECT YOURSELF.

If you are sexually active, consider regular testing for:
• HIV
• Syphilis
• Hepatitis B
• Other sexually transmitted infections (STIs)

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Testing immediately after a risky sexual encounter does not always rule out HIV or other infections. Some infections have a window period, so you may need repeat testing at the appropriate time.

💊 If you had a possible HIV exposure within the last 72 hours, seek medical care urgently and ask about PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis).

Clomiphene helps some women ovulate, but more tablets do NOT mean more babies.

⚠️ Misuse can increase the risk of:
🔴 Enlarged ovaries & cysts
🔴 Ovarian torsion or rupture
🔴 Internal bleeding
🔴 Multiple pregnancy complications
🔴 Visual disturbances

I had seen so much, learned so much, and questioned almost everything.

Medicine taught me to look for evidence, to challenge assumptions, to investigate what I could not explain, and never to accept an answer simply because I was told it was true.

Somewhere along the way, I began applying the same principles to my faith.

I quietly convinced myself that believing in God was something I had outgrown.

Then my mother said:

“Mwana wandi, I understand your exposure and your questions. But remember who you are. We are Zambians, and we pray. We believe in God. Now, get back in line.”

Years in medicine have taught me something humbling:

Not everything that is real can be captured by a laboratory result. Not every diagnosis is immediately clear. And the absence of an explanation is not necessarily evidence that there is no cause.

There are things medicine can treat, things science can measure, and things the human mind can understand.

But there are also mysteries we encounter at the bedside—moments of life, death, healing, suffering and hope—that remind us of how much we still don’t know.

Perhaps faith was never something I had outgrown.

Perhaps, in all my learning, I had simply forgotten that being educated does not mean knowing everything.

Sometimes the wisest thing a doctor can say is:

“I don’t know yet.”

And sometimes, when knowledge reaches its limits, faith begins where certainty ends. 🙏🏾
