CASE 3 SUMMERY
CXR Findings:
Homogeneous opacity affecting the lower and mid zones of the left hemithorax.
The opacity demonstrates a meniscus sign with blunting of the left costophrenic angle.
Adjacent compressive collapse/consolidation of the underlying left lower lung is present.
The right lung appears clear with no focal parenchymal opacity.
The trachea is central and the cardiac shadow is of normal size. Normal soft tissue and bone detail
Conclusion
Moderate to large left pleural effusion.
Associated compressive atelectatic collapse.
