CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION (CME)
This week CME session was on Asthma from all our facilities ;
Leopards hill medical center, Kabelenga family hospital, Lilayi family clinic and Halfway family hospital
What is Asthma?
Asthma is a chronic lung disease causing inflammation and narrowing of the airways, leading to breathing difficulties.
It affects all ages and is effectively managed with proper medical care at our hospital.
Key Symptoms
Shortness of breath
Wheezing (whistling sound)
Chest tightness
Nighttime or early morning cough
Recognize symptoms early and seek evaluation from our clinic .
Common Triggers
Allergens (pollen, dust mites, pets)
Smoke, pollution, cold air
Exercise, stress, viral infections

Asthma Management
Use daily controller inhalers and quick-relief medications as prescribed.
Our hospital creates individualized Asthma Action Plans to help patients stay in control.
*Emergency Signs*
Go to the Emergency Department immediately if:
1. Reliever inhaler provides no relief
2. Severe breathlessness or inability to speak
3. Blue lips or fingernails appear

Asthma is not contagious. It often has genetic links and is associated with allergies. With consistent treatment, most patients lead active lives.
