Every Caregiver Deserves a Break😮‍💨
Caring for an elderly loved one is an act of love❤️, but it can also be physically, mentally, and emotionally demanding. Feeling tired or overwhelmed doesn't mean your loved one is a burden, it simply means you're human.
At Akulu Akulu, our Respite Care Service gives caregivers the opportunity to rest, attend to personal matters, or simply recharge, knowing their loved one is in safe and caring hands.
While you're taking a break, your loved one enjoys a structured and welcoming environment with meaningful activities, social interaction, companionship, and professional support.
Whether you need a few hours or a full day, we're here to help.
Because caring for yourself is part of caring for those you love.

A reminder that caregiving is easier when no one has to do it alone.
Community, connection, and support can make all the difference for caregivers and those living with dementia. Thank you ADDIZ for this important message.

FRIDAY REFLECTION

“The day I met another caregiver… I realized I was no longer carrying this journey alone.”

Living with dementia can sometimes feel isolating, not only for the person diagnosed, but also for the family members and friends who care for them every day.

Yet one of the most powerful forms of care isn't found in a prescription or a hospital.

It is community.

When caregivers connect with others who understand their daily challenges, they find encouragement, practical advice, and the reassurance that their experiences are shared by many.

Likewise, when people living with dementia remain connected to others through support groups, social activities, and community programmes, they maintain a greater sense of identity, purpose, dignity, and belonging.

In Zambia:

Many families provide dementia care at home, often with little formal support.Caregivers can experience stress, burnout, anxiety, and loneliness.

Community support groups create safe spaces to learn, share experiences, and build resilience together.

No family should have to walk the dementia journey alone.

Dementia care is not only about caring for one person. It is about building communities that care for one another.

As we go into this weekend, take a moment to reflect.

If you are caring for someone living with dementia, remember that asking for support is a sign of strength, not weakness.

If you know a family affected by dementia, reach out. A phone call, a visit, or simply listening can make an enormous difference.

And if you have lived experience, continue sharing your story. Every conversation helps reduce stigma, strengthens understanding, and reminds another caregiver that they are not alone.

Together, we can create communities where every person living with dementia, and every caregiver is seen, supported, and valued.

ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND & REMEMBER, TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER.

This Tuesday, the Akulu Akulu Men stepped out to embrace a different kind of activity—a tour of the TZR Memorial Park Museum.

Staying active is not only about physical exercise; it's also about keeping the mind engaged, learning new things, sharing experiences, and strengthening social connections. The tour gave us an opportunity to appreciate history, reflect on the past, and enjoy meaningful bonding.

A great day of learning, laughter, and brotherhood. We look forward to many more activities that keep our men active, connected, and inspired💚💛

POV: Africa Freedom Day 🇿🇲

A day that reminds us where we come from…
and the people who carried us here. ❤️
You’re sitting next to your parents, the very ones who shaped your story…
And for the first time in a long time, there’s no rush to leave.

Your children are laughing with them…
learning, playing, connecting. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
And in that moment, you realize this is what freedom looks like too.
The freedom to gather.
The freedom to connect.
The freedom to create memories together. 🇿🇲
Because these are the moments we don’t get often enough.
So this Africa Freedom Day… we’re creating them. 🎉

This 25th May – Africa Freedom Day 🇿🇲,
we’re bringing it back, bigger, warmer, and even more meaningful.

Ever wondered why your parent repeats the same story, forgets simple things, or seems quieter than usual?
It’s not just “old age.”
Sometimes it’s loneliness. Sometimes it’s mental fatigue. Sometimes it’s the need for stimulation, routine, and connection.
As life gets busy, it’s easy to miss the little signs, the long silences, the forgotten meals, the days that feel all the same to them.
At Akulu Akulu, we create more than just care.
We create moments of joy, conversation, movement, and purpose. A place where your loved ones feel seen, engaged, and valued every single day.
Because they deserve more than being looked after…
They deserve to live fully. 💚💛
