HYPERTENSION is called a silent
Ki!ler for a reason.
You may be feeling very okay, but high blood pressure (BP) can be damaging your body silently.
When you don’t check it regualrly, it can lead to serious health issues that are more difficult to treat and also more expensive to treat.
Let us look at some of them
1.Heart Attack ; When your BP stays high for a long time because you are not aware, it puts pressure on the heart.
This can cause the blood vessels that supply the heart to block all of a suden, leading to a heart attack.
You may feel sudden chest pain, shortness of breath, or even collapse. Sometimes, there are no warning signs.
2. Stroke ; High blood pressure can cause blood vessels in the brain to either burst or block.
This is what we call stroke. It can cause weakness in one part of the body, slurred speech, or even paralysis. Many people don’t recover fully after it happens.
3.Dementia; High BP can also reduce blood flow to the brain over time. And you know, the brain needs steady blood flow to stay sharp. When it doesn’t get enough blood, your memory and thinking begin to fail.
That is what we call dementia. Even though it is common in old people, it can affect young people too.
4.Eye Damage or Hypertensive Retinopathy: The eyes have tiny blood vessels that can be easily damaged by high BP.
This can lead to blurry vision, dark spots, or even total blindness. Some people don’t notice the damage until it’s too late.
5.Kidney Failure: Your kidneys filter waste from your blood. High BP damages the blood vessels in the kidneys. Slowly, the kidneys stop working.
You’ll start swelling, feeling tired, or may end up needing dialysis. I'm glad you're reading this, and this will not be you
6.Heart Failure: The heart gets tired of working too hard due to high pressure.
Over time, it becomes weak and cannot pump enough blood.
You’ll feel tired, breathless, and swollen. Everyday activities become hard.
7.Aneurysm; This is when a blood vess
