Nutrition and Fertility: What to Choose?

What we eat can play an important role in supporting reproductive health. Here are some simple nutrition principles to keep in mind:

🐟 Choose fish, especially salmon.
Fish is one of the best protein choices and can be very beneficial for your diet.
🥑 Add avocado and other healthy fats.
Avoid relying only on fat-free products. Healthy fats are important for the endocrine system and reproductive function — just keep portions balanced.
🍎 Choose fresh fruits.
Whole fruits are preferable to smoothies whenever possible.
💧 Drink enough water.
Good hydration is very important for overall health and supports egg, s***m, and endometrial health.
🥤 Limit sugar and soda.
They don’t provide benefits for fertility and should not be a regular part of your diet.
🥣 Be mindful of granola and smoothies.
They may be convenient for a busy lifestyle, but when possible, choose whole fruits instead of smoothies.
🍗 Keep protein portions balanced.
In order of priority: fish first, followed by chicken and other white meats. Meat should make up no more than approximately 30% of your meal.
🍔 Avoid fast food whenever possible.
A balanced diet based on fresh, nutritious foods is a much better choice when supporting fertility.

The goal is not restriction, but balance: healthy fats, quality protein, fresh fruits, plenty of water, and fewer highly processed foods.

How to increase your chances of having a healthy baby?

The chance of having a healthy baby depends on several important factors: the woman’s age, ovarian reserve, egg quality, and s***m quality.

Age plays an important role because egg quality changes over time. If you are 30, your eggs are also around 30 years old. If you are 40, your eggs are around 40 years old.
To better understand your reproductive potential, your doctor can assess your ovarian reserve with:
— an AMH blood test
— an antral follicle count (AFC) by ultrasound
S***m quality is another important part of the equation.

When ovarian reserve, egg quality, and s***m quality are good, the chances of creating a healthy embryo are higher. In general, good AMH and AFC results are more common in women under 35.

That is why time matters when planning a pregnancy: the longer you wait, the chances of having a healthy baby may decrease.

Which contraceptive method is right for you?

There is no single option that works for everyone. The most suitable contraceptive method should be chosen individually, depending on your health, lifestyle, and future pregnancy plans.
💊 Oral contraceptives
The pill is taken every day and can be stopped when you are ready to plan a pregnancy.
🔹 Contraceptive implant
A small implant is placed under the skin. It may be a convenient option for women who do not want to remember to take a pill every day.
🔹 Hormonal IUD
A hormonal IUD is placed inside the uterus and provides long-term contraception. Periods may become lighter or stop completely while using it.
🔹 Condoms
In addition to preventing pregnancy, condoms help reduce the risk of sexually transmitted infections.

Our gynecologist is always here to help you to choose the safest and most suitable method for you

When should you see a fertility specialist?

Trying to conceive can take time, and not every month without a positive test means that something is wrong. But it is important to understand how long it is reasonable to wait.

If you are under 30, have a regular menstrual cycle, regular sexual activity and no known medical conditions, you can try to conceive naturally for 1–2 years before seeing a fertility specialist.

The same timeframe may apply between the ages of 30 and 35, provided that your cycle is regular and there are no known health concerns.

After the age of 35, time becomes especially important. If pregnancy has not occurred within 6 months, we recommend consulting a fertility specialist, as the chances of natural conception begin to decline more rapidly.

A consultation doesn’t necessarily mean that you will need IVF. It is an opportunity to understand your reproductive health, identify any possible difficulties and receive a clear plan without losing valuable time.

Why don’t 10 eggs become 10 potential embryos?
Let’s explain this using two patient cases.

Patient 1
12 eggs were collected.
10 of them were mature.
8 fertilized successfully.
7 continued dividing and reached the cleavage stage.
By day five, 4 embryos had developed into blastocysts.

Patient 2
14 eggs were collected.
11 of them were mature and injected.
All 11 fertilized and started dividing.
By day five, 8 embryos had reached the blastocyst stage.

At every stage of IVF, the number may naturally decrease.
Not every collected egg is mature.
Not every mature egg fertilizes.
Not every fertilized egg continues dividing, and not every embryo reaches the blastocyst stage.

The transition from day three to day five is particularly important, as embryos need significant energy and developmental potential to continue growing.

IVF is a highly individualized process, and no two patients will have exactly the same results.

Embryo development can be influenced by egg quality, s***m count, motility and morphology, male-factor infertility, and many other individual factors.

At the end of the day, it is not only about quantity. It is about quality.
Because sometimes, only one good embryo is needed for a healthy baby. 🤍

What if intimacy is painful?

Pain during intimacy or even a gynecological examination is not something you should ignore. One possible cause is vaginismus — an involuntary spasm of the pelvic floor muscles that makes pe*******on painful or impossible.

In many cases, the problem is not caused by a physical condition. Fear, anxiety, or past negative experiences can lead the body to develop a protective response. Over time, this reaction becomes automatic, even when there is no real danger.

The good news is that vaginismus is treatable.

Treatment often includes psychological support or cognitive behavioral therapy to address the underlying cause but it will take a long time. While psychological therapy helps address the underlying cause, we can provide faster physical relief at the same time. Botox injections help relax the affected muscles, reduce involuntary spasms and pain, making examinations and intimacy more comfortable while you continue working with your therapist.

Most importantly, It’s not your fault. Vaginismus is a medical condition, and like many other conditions, it can and should be treated.

You don’t have to live with pain. The right support can help you regain comfort, confidence, and control over your body.

Is IVF safe?
It’s completely normal to ask this question before starting treatment.

IVF has been used in medicine for over forty-five years, and in that time it has helped millions of children be born all over the world.

Hormonal stimulation does carry certain risks, but they’re well studied, and doctors know how to manage them: the key is an individual approach. Your doctor selects the most suitable protocol and the correct medication dosage based on your health, ovarian reserve and response to stimulation. This helps reduce the risk of side effects and avoid complications.

Also every embryo in the lab is electronically tagged, so mixing up material is practically impossible. And at any stage, you can ask your doctor a question and get a clear answer.

Come in for a consultation, and we’ll calmly work through all your concerns.

One simple test a year can protect you from cervical cancer — yet many women still skip it.

It is called a Pap smear, or cervical cytology.

The test takes only a few minutes. During the procedure, the doctor gently collects a small number of cells from the cervix and sends them to the laboratory to check for any abnormal changes.

Why does it matter?

Cervical cancer usually develops slowly and is most often associated with high-risk types of human papillomavirus, or HPV.

When abnormal cells are detected at an early stage, they can often be completely removed with a simple procedure. But without regular screening, these cells may continue to change and eventually become cancerous.

A Pap smear takes just a few minutes.

Do not put it off. Visit our clinic and get checked.
