What is the diagnosis?
lupus pernio in sarcoidosis?
Sarcoidosis is a multisystem disorder characterised histologically by granulomas (a specific type of inflammation). Lupus pernio presents as bluish-red or violaceous nodules and plaques over the nose, cheeks and ears. The name is derived from the Latin name for 'wolf' (lupus) and for 'chilblain' (pernio).
the diagnostic criteria for lupus pernio.
Lupus pernio is characterized by violaceous or erythematous, indurated plaques that are primarily distributed on the central face involving the nose and cheeks. Lesions can also involve the ears and very rarely the dorsum of hands and feet.
the hallmark of sarcoidosis.
The hallmark of sarcoidosis is the presence of noncaseating granuloma, a cluster of macrophages, epithelioid cells, mononuclear cells, and CD4+ T cells with a few CD8+ T cells in the peripheral zone.
the autoimmune marker for lupus?
Anti-nuclear antibodies (ANA) are autoantibodies to the nuclei of your cells. 98% of all people with systemic lupus have a positive ANA test, making it the most sensitive diagnostic test for confirming diagnosis of the disease.
