🫁❄️ Can cryobiopsy change the management of acute respiratory failure?

In this case series conducted at the Adult Intensive Care Unit of Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires, lung cryobiopsy demonstrated a high diagnostic yield in selected patients with acute hypoxemic respiratory failure of unclear origin.

📌 Key findings:
🔹 100% histological diagnostic yield
🔹 Therapeutic changes in 8 out of 10 patients
🔹 No major procedure-related complications

🧠 Obtaining a histological sample may help differentiate multiple pulmonary conditions and guide more specific and safer treatments.

⚠️ Although this was a small retrospective series, the results reinforce the potential role of cryobiopsy as a diagnostic tool in carefully selected critically ill patients.

🏥 Advanced bronchoscopy, performed by trained teams, can make a difference when the diagnosis remains uncertain.
