🌾 +17.8% Higher Wheat Yield Under Spring Drought

A field trial at the Maize Institute in Knezha, Bulgaria, evaluated AMALGEROL ESSENCE under severe spring drought.

After favourable autumn sowing conditions and a warm winter, the crop received just 7.6 l/m² of rainfall in February, followed by below-average precipitation throughout March and April - ideal conditions to demonstrate the benefits of biostimulants under drought stress.

✔️ +17.8% higher grain yield compared to the untreated control
✔️ Prolonged "green effect" for improved grain filling
✔️ Better grain quality with higher thousand-grain weight and hectolitre weight
✔️ Stronger performance despite reduced nitrogen fertilisation

The trial clearly demonstrated the benefits of AMALGEROL ESSENCE under drought conditions. Applied twice at 2 l/ha, the treated wheat achieved a grain yield of 728 kg/ha compared to 618 kg/ha in the untreated control, while receiving less nitrogen fertiliser.

🌱 Drought stress doesn't have to mean yield loss.

As rainfall patterns become more unpredictable and temperatures continue to rise, improving crop resilience is more important than ever.

AMALGEROL® ESSENCE supports plants in maintaining vital physiological processes under water-limiting conditions, helping them cope better with drought stress and recover faster after prolonged dry periods. Extensive trials have demonstrated its effectiveness under drought conditions.

✔️ Improved drought tolerance
✔️ Reduced water loss under drought stress
✔️ More efficient water use
✔️ Supports rapid recovery after prolonged dry periods

Working with nature. For nature. 🌱

Right next to our headquarters in Innsbruck, our small trial plots give us the opportunity to test new approaches under real-world conditions. Currently in the field: tomatoes, radishes and sunflowers. We are comparing different fertilizers and — of course — AMALGEROL, documenting their effects by counting tomatoes, measuring sunflower height and head diameter, and harvesting radishes for further laboratory analysis. 🌻🍅

As agriculture faces increasing stress from changing climatic conditions — especially heat and drought — helping plants cope with these challenges is becoming more important than ever. With our AMALGEROL biostimulants, we aim to make a meaningful contribution to strengthening plant resilience and supporting farmers in adapting to these new conditions. Working at Hechenbichler means more than developing products. It means getting out into the field, observing closely and working with nature to find new ways towards a more resilient agriculture.

Watching nature at work: Straw decomposition in action! 🌾

We've been putting AMALGEROL ESSENCE to the test, observing how this biostimulant accelerates the natural breakdown of harvest residues and supports long-term soil fertility.

📸 Follow the journey from the field to the lab:

🌱 Early December: Straw-filled soil bags were buried in the field to start the natural decomposition process.

⛏️ Mid-February: The bags were carefully excavated and prepared for laboratory analysis.

🔬 In the lab: The analyses revealed significantly higher microbial activity. The result? Faster decomposition of harvest residues compared to the untreated samples.

Why does this matter? Faster residue breakdown means more active soil biology, improved nutrient cycling, and stronger humus formation - laying the foundation for healthier, more productive soils.

Every harvest leaves an opportunity 🌾

Effective straw management is a key step in improving soil health, supporting nutrient cycling, and creating the best conditions for the next crop. This field visit with Agrii Polska shows how practical expertise and innovative solutions come together where they matter most: in the field.

A big thank you to our partner Agrii Polska for this great video and for the excellent collaboration. Together, we are bringing practical solutions and innovation closer to farmers. 🤝

The CEDRIC project concludes. The work beneath our feet continues.

After more than two years of cross-border research and collaboration, the EU-funded CEDRIC project is coming to a close — leaving behind new knowledge and promising perspectives for the regeneration of depleted soils.

Inspired by the success of human microbiome transplantation, CEDRIC investigated whether microbiomes from healthy plant roots can be transferred to degraded soils. The goal: to restore microbial biodiversity, improve soil structure and nutrient availability, increase soil carbon, and ultimately support healthier, more resilient crops.

As an industry partner, Hechenbichler contributed its applied research expertise and practical agricultural perspective to the project. Together with universities, research institutions and companies from Italy and Austria, we supported the transfer of microbiome research from controlled scientific environments towards field-level application and agricultural practice.

The project has demonstrated the potential of root microbiome transplantation as a nature-based approach to soil regeneration. Its impact extends beyond the scientific results: CEDRIC has created a strong cross-border network and strengthened the exchange between research, industry and agriculture.

For us, this is not an endpoint. It is another important step towards understanding how biological processes in plants and soils can contribute to productive, resilient and sustainable agriculture.

A sincere thank you to all project partners for the excellent collaboration, shared knowledge and commitment throughout this Interreg Italia–Austria initiative.

🌽 +18% Higher Maize Yield Under Extreme Summer Stress

A field trial at the Maize Institute in Knezha, Bulgaria, evaluated AMALGEROL ESSENCE during a season marked by a dry winter, cool spring, and extreme summer heat and drought – ideal conditions to demonstrate its protective benefits under severe stress.

✔️ +18.2% higher harvest yield compared to the untreated control
✔️ Longer cobs with improved grain development
✔️ Enhanced vegetative growth
✔️ Greater resilience under extreme heat and drought

Applied twice at 2 l/ha, AMALGEROL ESSENCE helped maize maintain growth and productivity when conventional fertilisation alone was no longer sufficient. The treated crop achieved 343 kg/ha compared to 290 kg/ha in the untreated control.

When extreme heat and drought put maize yields at risk, AMALGEROL ESSENCE helps crops better withstand stress and supports critical growth stages, protecting yield potential when conventional fertilisation alone is no longer enough.

🚁🌱 Greening steep alpine slopes - with the help of drones

How do you revegetate areas where tractors and other machinery can't reach?

At the Kühtai ski resort in Austria, drone technology made it possible. Grass seed and AMALGEROL STARTER CARBO were applied quickly and precisely across steep terrain, ensuring even coverage while minimizing disturbance to the ground.

With a 25 kg payload, the drone proved to be an efficient solution for challenging alpine conditions.

This project is a great example of how innovative technology can make sustainable revegetation safer, faster, and more effective.

A big thank you to Agrarflug for the professional drone application and the excellent collaboration!
