Kapalbhati is one of the oldest breathing techniques in yoga.

For thousands of years, yogis have used it to wake up the body, sharpen the mind, and prepare for meditation. Today, modern research is showing that this ancient practice can increase alertness, improve focus, and activate the nervous system within minutes.

Practicing Kapalbhati for just 2–3 minutes a day helps wake up your body, wake up your brain, and get you ready for the day.

How to Practice Kapalbhati

✔ Sit comfortably with a straight spine

✔ Take a gentle inhale through your nose

✔ Forcefully exhale through your nose by pulling your belly in

✔ Let the inhale happen naturally

✔ Continue at a steady rhythm

Start with 30 seconds and gradually build up to 2–3 minutes.

The rapid exhalations stimulate circulation, increase respiratory activity, and activate the nervous system. This makes Kapalbhati a powerful tool before work, exercise, meditation, or anytime you need an energy boost.

Think of it as a natural way to wake yourself up.

No coffee.
No energy drinks.
Just your breath.

Follow for science-backed breathwork practices that help you create more energy, focus, and vitality naturally.

Seven years ago 14 people came to Bali not knowing what they were getting themselves into...

Back then, breathwork was not known as it is today and it was not being practiced everywhere.

Most people still had no idea that the breath could be used as a tool to change their state, regulate their nervous system, and access their inner pharmacy.

But I knew there was something powerful here.

These 14 people came to Bali to learn how to use their breath to create real shifts in the body and mind.

Through rhythmical breathing, breath retention, music, movement, and meditation, they experienced what happens when you stop looking outside of yourself for the answer and begin activating what already exists within you.

Your energy.
Your clarity.
Your resilience.
Your ability to heal, reset, and transform.

That retreat became one of the early foundations of what SOMA Breath is today.

Those 14 were some of our first instructors... today we’ve trained over 4000... and thousands of practitioners learning how to breathe better, live with more energy, and help others unlock their pharmacy within.

And now, seven years later, we are returning to Bali for another epic training retreat. This time I’m bringing with me some of the best SOMA Breath Instructors to guide this retreat.

2026 Bali Instructor Retreat is your opportunity to immerse yourself in the science, practice, and experience of SOMA Breath.

You will learn how to use breathwork to shift your state, awaken your body’s natural healing potential, and guide others through powerful transformational journeys.

Your ribs and your lower back are more connected than you think.

When your ribs flare forward, your lower back often has to compensate by arching more than it needs to.

This can create extra tension in the lower back, make your core feel less stable, and affect the way you breathe.

When you gently pull your ribs in, you bring your ribcage back over your pelvis.

This helps your diaphragm move better, your core engage more naturally, and your lower back stop doing all the work.

👉Try this:

Lie down or stand tall.
Place one hand on your lower ribs.
As you exhale, gently draw your ribs down and in.
Keep your pelvis relaxed.
Then inhale slowly into the sides and back of your ribs.

You are not forcing your ribs down.
You are creating better alignment so your breath has space to move properly.

Better breathing starts with better posture.

Follow for simple ways to improve your breath, body, and nervous system.

When you think the healing journey is all about “the vibes”..

Nobody tells you that healing also comes with a scary phase😭🌊

🧘‍♀️One minute you think you’re becoming peaceful, grounded, and emotionally mature…

🤯The next minute your nervous system is throwing every old pattern, emotion, and trigger onto the deck like:

“WHAT IS GOING ON?”

👉That’s the part people forget to talk about.

Healing is not always calm.
Sometimes it feels messy because your body is finally processing what it had to suppress, carry, or survive.

Old emotions rise.
Your body feels tense.
You get tired.
You cry over things you thought you had moved on from.
You realize how much stress was living in your system.

❤️This doesn’t mean you’re doing healing wrong.

✨It means your nervous system is learning how to feel safe again.

🙂And one of the fastest ways to support that process is through your breath.

✨Slow rhythmic breathing with longer exhales tells your body:

“I am safe now.”
“We can soften now.”
“We don’t have to stay in survival mode.”

Breathwork doesn’t always stop the storm immediately.

But it gives you an anchor while the storm moves through. 🌬️

Here’s what happened..
. 2 minutes of Kapalbhati every day can shift your energy fast!👇

👉Kapalbhati is a yogic breathing technique where you use short, sharp exhales and passive inhales.

It looks simple, but it has a powerful effect on the body.

When you practice Kapalbhati, the rapid pumping of the breath stimulates the diaphragm, abdominal muscles, and nervous system.

This can help:

✨ wake up your body
✨ increase alertness
✨ support digestion
✨ reduce bloating
✨ improve circulation
✨ clear brain fog
✨ shift you out of sluggishness

👉The active exhale also helps move stale air out of the lungs, while the rhythmic movement of the belly gently massages the digestive organs.

❤️That’s why many people feel lighter, clearer, and more energized after just a few minutes.

💡Think of it like turning the lights on inside your body.

But Kapalbhati is strong, so start slow.

👇🏻Try this:

Sit tall.
Relax your shoulders.
Take a gentle inhale.
Then begin short, sharp exhales through the nose.
Let the inhale happen naturally.
Continue for 30 seconds to 2 minutes.

Stop if you feel dizzy, lightheaded, or uncomfortable.

Practice it in the morning or anytime you need a natural energy boost.

Your breath is not just keeping you alive.

It can change your state in minutes.

Still waking up tired, even after a full night’s sleep? 😤

It’s not always about how many hours you slept.

It’s about whether your nervous system actually allowed your body to enter deep rest.

Because sometimes your body is in bed…

but your brain is still processing the day.

Your thoughts are still running.
Your stress chemistry is still active.
Your nervous system is still scanning, bracing, and staying “on.”

And when that happens, sleep can become shallow, broken, or unrefreshing.

This is why you can sleep for 7, 8, or even 9 hours and still wake up feeling foggy, heavy, wired, or exhausted.

Quality sleep starts before you fall asleep.

It starts with teaching your nervous system that it is safe to switch off.

One of the fastest ways to do that is through the breath. 🌬️

Slow rhythmic breathing with longer exhales helps shift the body out of stress mode and into rest mode by calming sympathetic arousal, slowing the heart rate, and activating the parasympathetic nervous system.

This is the state your body needs for deeper sleep, better recovery, and a clearer morning.

👉And this Thursday, Niraj is going deeper into exactly how this works.

✨FREE LIVE SESSION
📅Thursday, May 28th, 2026
⏰10:00am New York / 3:00pm London

In this free live Power Hour, Niraj reveals why your brain won’t switch off at night and how breathwork can reset the switch in minutes.
