Heidelberg hosts the ESOI Touchdown 2026. It is a city where 14th-century history meets modern research.

Join us at ESOI Touchdown from October 29–31: https://bit.ly/4xr63AO

Beyond the scientific programme, explore some of Heidelberg’s iconic sights:

A castle with a medical twist - Heidelberg Castle is more than just a famous ruin. Tucked inside is the German Apothecary Museum, housing a massive collection of pharmaceutical history, from medieval laboratories to rare minerals.

The old bridge and the bronze monkey - The Karl Theodor Bridge is a stone landmark with stunning views of the river and castle. At the entrance, touch the 17th-century bronze monkey statue's mirror for good luck.

The path of Philosopher’s Way - This famous walking path was once the go-to spot for university professors to talk shop while enjoying sweeping views of the Old Town.

The church of the holy spirit - Located in the market square, this Gothic church has over 700 years of history. Climb the bell tower for a panorama over the city's rooftops and the castle.

King’s seat funicular railway - Ride the historic funicular railway up to the summit of the Königstuhl hill for incredible views of the Neckar valley.
