Remember when you accidentally became good at something just because you were curious about it? That's not luck. That's how your brain actually wants to learn.

In this episode of Balanced Brews I explore I why forcing yourself to study fails and playful curiosity succeeds.

⏰ REGISTRATION CLOSES TOMORROW ⏰

In less than 24 hours, registration for The Play Project closes.

Monday morning, June 1, the first challenge lands in 100+ inboxes. And I need to know: will yours be one of them?

Because here's the thing about transformation:

💜 It doesn't happen when you have more time.
💜 It doesn't happen when life slows down.
💜 It doesn't happen when you feel ready.

✅ It happens when you DECIDE.

When you say:
'I deserve joy.'
'I'm willing to try.'
'I'm choosing myself.'

Tomorrow night at midnight, the choice closes. Monday morning, we start.

It's 30 days of one small playful moment each day - and 100+ women doing it with you.

Completely free and totally transformative.

What you'll get:
🌼 30 daily email challenges (starting June 1 at 7am)
🌼 Play Journal PDF (downloadable)
🌼 The Creative and Playful Life community access
🌼 Weekly reflection prompts

What you'll need:
• 5-15 minutes a day
• An open mind
• Permission to prioritise yourself (Consider this your permission slip).

You have less than 24 hours to decide. Will you spend the next 30 days wishing you'd started? Or celebrating 30 days of choosing joy?

This is your moment.

What happens when 100 women decide to play for 30 days straight?

We're about to find out.

100 women have already registered for The Play Project starting June 1.

Let me tell you exactly what they (and maybe you?) are signing up for:

Every morning at 7am you wake up to an email in your inbox.

That email contains:
💜 One simple play challenge (5-15 minutes)
💜 The neuroscience behind why it matters
💜 Exactly how to do it (step by step)
💜 A prompt to share in the community
💜 A reflection question for your journal

Your journey

👩🏻🦰 Week 1: REDISCOVER - Remember what play felt like. Reconnect with childhood joys.
👩🏻🦰 Week 2: EXPERIMENT - Try different types of play.
👩🏻🦰 Week 3: INTEGRATE - Weave play into daily life.
👩🏻🦰 Week 4: AMPLIFY - Play bigger. More boldly. Give yourself full permission.

Join the community where the magic happens. Every day, 100 women in The Creative and Playful Life Facebook group will share:
👩🏻🦰 What they tried
👩🏻🦰 How it felt
👩🏻🦰 What surprised them
👩🏻🦰 What was hard
👩🏻🦰 What brought them joy

You're not doing this alone. You're doing it with women who understand what it's like to feel depleted and ready for change.

That community doesn't end after 30 days. It's your ongoing support for keeping play in your life.

The cost: Zero. Nothing. Free. No catch. No upsell required. Just 30 days of choosing joy together.

The commitment: 5-15 minutes a day. That's it.

Registration closes Friday, May 30.

We start Monday, June 1.

100 women are already in.

What would change if you had 100 women supporting you to play for 30 days?

What if today was your last chance to choose joy?

⏰ ONE WEEK LEFT ⏰

The Play Project starts June 1. Registration closes May 30.
You have 6 days to decide.

Here's what I want you to know.

🌼 This isn't about having time. (You don't need more time. You need more JOY.)

🌼 This isn't about being creative or artistic. (Play is for everyone. Including you.)

🌼 This isn't about earning the right to play. (You were born with that right. You just forgot.)

This is about 30 days of remembering what it feels like to be ALIVE instead of just getting through.

30 days of proving to yourself that joy isn't frivolous—it's fundamental.

30 days of doing this WITH a community of women who understand what it's like to feel depleted, exhausted, and ready for something different.

100 women have already said yes. The question is: will you?

What you get (100% FREE):

What if 30 days could actually change something?

Let me tell you about Melanie.

When she started The Play Project pilot, she was an HR director managing 40 people, mother of two young kids, and completely burned out.

'I was running on fumes,' she told me. 'Every morning felt like dragging myself through concrete. I was productive at work, present with my kids, but there was no ME left. No joy. No lightness. Just... getting through.'

She almost didn't join. 'I thought: I don't have time to play. I barely have time to breathe.'

But something made her try.

👩🦳 Day 1: 'I felt ridiculous dancing in my kitchen. But I also... laughed?'
👩🦳 Day 7: 'I'm sleeping better. I didn't expect that.'
👩🦳 Day 14: 'My kids noticed. They said Mom seems happier.'
👩🦳 Day 21: 'Something shifted at work. I'm solving problems faster. I'm more creative in meetings. My team is responding differently to me.'
👩🦳 Day 30: 'I'm more productive now than when I was grinding 12-hour days. But more importantly? I actually ENJOY my life again. I forgot what that felt like.'

Melanie didn't get more time. She didn't quit her job and she didn't lower her standards. She just played for 5-15 minutes a day for 30 days.

And everything changed.

The Play Project starts June 1. Registration closes May 30.

It's completely FREE. 100 women have already signed up.

Could 30 days change something for you?

When was the last time you played—without guilt, without a goal, just for the pure joy of it?

If you can't remember, tune into this week's Balanced Brews episode: "Why play is the productivity hack nobody is talking about." This isn't your typical productivity advice. This is neuroscience-backed evidence that the most productive people aren't the ones who grind the hardest—they're the ones who know how to play.

In this episode, I talk about:
🧠 What's happening in your brain when you play
💡 The 5 ways play makes you more productive (not less)
🔥 Why we resist play even when we know it's good for us
⛹️♀️ Practical strategies for integrating play when you're already overwhelmed

You've been told that success requires being busy and relentless focus. But the research shows something completely different. Play isn't a distraction from productivity—it's the secret ingredient.

Listen now on Rumble: https://rumble.com/v7957vc-why-play-is-the-productivity-hack-nobody-talks-about.html

Then come tell me in the comments what resonated most with you?

And if you're ready to try some intentional play yourself? I’m launching a brand new free challenge on 1 June - The Play Project launch. This is a 30-day challenge to help you learn how to play again—without guilt or metrics, just pure reconnection with joy.

What if I told you I used to think play was a waste of time?

Three years ago, my to-do list ran my life. I optimised everything. Time-blocked my calendar. Eliminated 'non-essential' activities. Hustled hard.

I got a LOT done. And I was miserable. Exhausted. Brittle. Creatively stuck. Running on empty.

Then someone asked me: 'When was the last time you played?’ I couldn't answer. It had been YEARS.

So I tried an experiment: 30 days of intentional play. Just 5-15 minutes a day. Dancing. Doodling. Playing games. Writing my book again. Creating for no reason.

I expected... I don't know. To feel slightly less stressed, maybe?

What actually happened surprised me.

✅ Week 1: I stopped hitting the 3pm energy crash
✅ Week 2: I had a creative breakthrough on my book that I'd been stuck on for months
✅ Week 3: I realised I wasn't dreading my work anymore
✅ Week 4: My productivity measurably INCREASED. More done in less time.

But here's what surprised me most: I was HAPPIER. Not just during the play. All the time.

That's when I realised, this isn't just about productivity. This is about having a life I actually want to live. And I want that for you too.

That's why I created The Play Project. It starts 1 June 2026.

It’s 30 days of 30 simple play challenges. A community of women rediscovering joy together.

Registrations are open now. Book your spot today: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/the-play-project-when-was-the-last-time-you-genuinely-played-tickets-1986512691937?aff=oddtdtcreator

Can science prove that play isn't frivolous?

Turns out, yes. Overwhelmingly yes.

I just published a deep dive into what neuroscience, psychology, and biology research tells us about why your brain desperately needs you to stop being so serious.

In this article, you'll discover:

🧠 What's happening in your brain when you play (and why it's the opposite of wasting time)
🧠 The 5 ways play enhances productivity, creativity, and resilience
🧠 What happens when we DON'T play (the research is sobering)
🧠 Why we resist play even when we know it's good for us
🧠 The science of starting small (spoiler: you don't need hours)

This isn't fluffy self-care advice. This is research-backed, neuroscience-proven evidence that play is fundamental to human functioning.

Here's my favourite finding. Just 5-10 minutes of daily play for 30 days creates measurable improvements in life satisfaction, stress levels, and well-being. And those changes are still measurable three months later.

Small daily play beats occasional big play. Consistency creates transformation.

Then come back and tell me in the comments - What surprised you most about the science of play?

What if I told you that being 'productive' might be why you're exhausted?

Here's what happens when you eliminate play from your life:

Your prefrontal cortex (the part of your brain that handles decisions, planning, and focus) gets EXHAUSTED. It's like a muscle. It needs rest.

But here's the catch: scrolling doesn't rest it. Netflix doesn't rest it. Even meditation doesn't fully rest it.

You know what does? PLAY.

When you play:
🔥Your decision-making circuits get a break
🔥 Your creativity centres light up
🔥 Your stress hormones drop by 36%
🔥 New neural pathways form
🔥 Your capacity for complex work actually INCREASES

MIT researchers found that people who played a simple game for 15 minutes before tackling a complex problem came up with 3X more creative solutions than people who went straight to work.

3X. From 15 minutes of play.

That's not a waste of time. That's strategic.

So here's my question: What would 30 days of intentional play do for YOUR brain?

Want to find out? I'm launching something soon. Drop a ✨ to be first to know.

11/05/2026

When was the last time you genuinely played?

Not relaxed on the couch. Not scrolled through your phone. Not even exercised.

Actually PLAYED. Laughed until your stomach hurt. Lost track of time doing something purely for joy.

If you're like most busy women, you can't remember. 🤔

Somewhere along the way, we stopped playing. We got serious. We optimised every hour. We hustled hard.

And now we're exhausted, and wondering why 'rest' never feels restful.

Here's what I'm learning, play isn't frivolous. It's fundamental.

Research shows that adults who play regularly:
🧘🏻 Have 36% lower stress hormones
🎨 Show higher creativity and problem-solving
🧠 Report better mental health
🔥 Experience less burnout

But knowing play matters and actually playing? Those are two different things.

So I have a question: What if you gave yourself 30 days to rediscover play?

Drop a 🎨 if you're curious what that could look like.
