It's a message to every family still searching that THEY ARE NOT ALONE.

Amplifii music festival was founded by a mum that just wanted her Son to go have a sick day out, dance and feel safe, included and catered for.

Anyone that knows me, knows that I'm a bit of a gig pig and what Karen pulls together every year for people with all abilities to go and have a fun day out is OUTSTANDING! I've been to festivals where the wheels have fallen off pretty quickly, Karen puts on an EPIC day out.

This day out costs money. Even if you can’t donate, sharing this post costs nothing and could help us reach someone who can. 🙏💙

You never know who in your networks might want to support a festival that is creating belonging, inclusion and a place where EVERYONE gets to dance! 🕺💃🎶

Help us spread the Amplifii love and keep this very special festival shining! ✨💙

When did inclusion and independence become optional extras?

The latest NDIS funding changes should concern every person who believes people with disability deserve more than simply having their basic needs met.

From October 2026, changes to participant budgets include:

🔻 **50% reduction** in funding allocations for social, economic and community participation.

🔻 **10% reduction** in funding allocations for improved daily living skills.

These reductions will be phased in as plans are created, reassessed or renewed, with some essential supports exempt.

Let's be clear. Community participation isn't a luxury. Building independence isn't an optional extra.

These supports help people build relationships, develop skills, connect with their communities and exercise choice over how they live.

Reducing access to these opportunities risks increasing isolation, reducing independence and undoing years of progress towards genuine inclusion.

And while we're talking about rights, there's another important opportunity to have your voice heard.

The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commissioner is currently inviting submissions to an Own Motion Inquiry into the Deprivation of Liberty, specifically examining the use of seclusion and its impact on the rights, freedoms and autonomy of NDIS participants.

This is a separate issue from the funding reductions, but both deserve our attention.

People with disability have the right to safety, freedom, dignity and meaningful participation in society.

Participants, families, advocates, support workers and providers are encouraged to share their experiences, observations and concerns relating to seclusion.

📩 Submissions can be emailed to:

[email protected]

A sustainable NDIS should never come at the expense of the people it was created to support.

Ataraxy will always advocate for a system that protects people's rights, promotes independence and delivers genuine outcomes.

People with disability deserve a life, not just a service.

Today is World Smile Day 🙂

That little yellow smiley face has a really cool story behind it.

In 1963, Harvey Ball was asked to create something that might lift employee morale after a difficult period of company restructuring. He came up with the now-famous yellow face and was paid $45 for his work.

He never trademarked it, and the image went on to become one of the most recognisable symbols in the world. Years later, Ball became concerned that its original meaning was getting lost. In 1999, he created World Smile Day, based on one very simple idea:

“Do an act of kindness. Help one person smile.”

There’s something in that for those of us working in the NDIS space.

Sometimes making a difference isn’t a huge grand gesture. It’s answering the phone. Listening properly. Fixing the problem nobody else has managed to fix. Speaking up when something isn’t right. Making someone feel heard, included and a little less overwhelmed.

Small things matter.
People matter.
And sometimes a smile is the evidence that something went right.

This is one of those days where you dont need the right t-shirt or enter an event or host a afternoon tea the mission is easy.... Do something today to make someone else smile 💛
