FACT 3: People with Down syndrome can be world champion athletes.

Meet Andre Rivett.

He recently competed at the 2022 IAADS Athletics World championships, where he won a silver medal in discus and is second in global rankings for this event. He also placed fourth in shot put and eighth in javelin.

And we know Andre isn’t the only world champ athlete in Australia, with many of our members competing in swimming, athletics and gymnastics on an international level.

For Down Syndrome Awareness Month, we’re shattering the misconceptions about what people with Down syndrome can achieve.
