We are actively seeking out the latest research and evidence based treatment approaches for individuals living with brain injuries / neurodegenerative disorders.

So far we’ve already listened to talks about saliva management in MND, communication support in Huntington’s Disease, improving communication in the aged care space and much more!

Welcoming Joanne to the Brain Matters team! Jo holds a Masters in Speech Pathology and previously obtained an Undergraduate degree in Medical Science. She has a passion for working with individuals with communication and swallowing disorders resulting from acquired/ traumatic brain injury as well as primary progressive aphasia. Jo has experience working with individuals with neurological impairments, providing assessments as well as developing holistic and individualised treatment plans. She has a warm and empathetic approach to her work, taking the time to understand individuals while building strong therapeutic relationships. Jo is a dedicated clinician with a strong commitment to continuous learning. Prior to working as a speech pathologist, Jo worked as a hospital orderly within the public health sector, gaining experience in acute hospital environments and exposure to a wide range of medical presentations, while supporting patient care in multidisciplinary teams. Outside of work, Jo loves to unwind by going for walks along the beach, and enjoys exploring new restaurants!
