Harmony equine therapy is still ticking away despite the lack of posts!.
Today teddy had a lovely session with a regular client of mine who I also do support work with.

Permission was given from parents to post photos (allowing me to post without her face blurred.)

A client who is learning to exercise horses from the ground rather than riding tested out her bond with teddy today by doing some liberty work.

Liberty work means there are no ropes or ways to contain the horse, you’re only using your body language and bond with the animal to keep them connected and paying attention to your wants and instructions.

Harmony equine therapy has been in business 2 years as of today! 🎉
If you had of told 10 year old me I’d be making a career in the horse industry while being able to help people with disabilities I would of told you your crazy, but here we are.

Teddy has helped people with disabilities such as depression, autism, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, Asperger’s, Down syndrome and acute brain injury. Teaching them animal husbandry life skills and helping clients to gain self awareness and understanding of their environment and emotions.

Along with my qualifications in support work I’m also a trained horse riding instructor and trail guide!.
I did this training back in 2016 for a nationally recognised certification and met some lovely like minded people some of whom I’m still friends with to this day. We trained to give private lessons up to group lessons of 6 people (seen in the video). Training focused on teaching beginners how to ride and the basics of horse husbandry.

Quite and reliable and steady as can be. Rides on teddy are offered to anyone who is happy to give the sport a go!

Equine therapy really is for anyone!
My 90 year old nanna visited teddy the other day for a relaxing family outing and teddy was as steady as can be for her.

Even clients with walkers are welcome! There is still so much you can do with horses even if you have limited mobility.

He has been in my life since he was 9 and I’ve known him since he was 4!

He is the most reliable and trustworthy animal I have ever worked with and we will have many more years of that to come 🎉

Even the support workers for clients that see teddy get to have a go at handling and learning from him!
Not only is it enjoyable for everyone involved but it shows how versatile horses can be for all different types of people!
