Morning light is medicine for the menopausal body. 🌅

One of the most overlooked things you can do to support uncomfortable menopausal sysmptoms is all around us..

☀️ Morning sunlight ☀️

Your brain and body are designed to wake up with light.

When morning light enters your eyes, it helps regulate your circadian rhythm which is the internal body clock that influences your

✨ sleep
✨ cortisol levels
✨ mood
✨ metabolism
✨ cravings
✨ energy
✨ brain function

And during menopause, tour entire rhythm can become disrupted.

Many women in midlife will notice that they are…

👉 waking up tired
👉 feeling wired at night
👉 have increased stress levels
👉 emotionally eating
👉 have more brain fog
👉 experiencing stubborn weight gain..

None of this is because there body or mind are are failing…

Its because their body is asking for something different with uncomfortable symptoms.

Just 5–10 minutes of morning light each day will help support:

☀️ better sleep
☀️ calmer cortisol patterns
☀️ improved mood
☀️ healthier metabolism
☀️ nervous system regulation

Because the menopausal body craves rhythm, not restriction.

If you’re wanting to know more about why YOUR body is struggling with symptoms that you feel are out of control…

Get in touch because I have a few places left for you to take advantage of my FREE 5 day Mini Reset - which is 5 x 30min private coaching sessions with me to help uncover the patterns that are exacerbating your symptoms and preventing you from living your very best life!

Something that came up while I was taking a break...

My Story of Origin around my own Relationship with Food & Weight.

During a coaching session with the amazing Toni Everard, I had a mini breakthrough that was so projecting of what I had been through as a child and now attracting and supporting others to overcome - on reflection I was quite astounded that I had not picked this up before within myself.

I began to reflect on what I had discovered over the years working with 1000’s of women struggling with weight and its loss and the same story’s were there.....over and over again.

They were speaking my story, just telling it differently about their struggles with food, weight and body image.

What I’ve come to realise is that these struggles didn’t actually begin with food at all.

They began much earlier…

In the messages we absorbed growing up, the way women spoke about their bodies within their own families, the pressure to be accepted, loved or “good enough” and the silent beliefs we carried into adulthood without even realising it.

I’ll be sharing warts and all my own story and how decades of conditioning shaped the relationship I had with food, my body and myself in my Skool Community.

I have a feeling many women are going to have some very powerful “aha” moments during this conversation.

An important conversation to have....

Something I find that many women overlook when it comes to their health is actually know what really matters to them!

I’ve been in this thought pattern of believing that I needed to have more discipline, more motivation and more willpower...

And I know from my own experience in midlife that juggling work, relationships, family, interrupted sleep, stress, hormonal shifts and the mental load of everyday life… becomes totally exhausting!

And that’s often where the “I’ll start again Monday” cycle begins.

You start the week strong and promise yourself this time will be different. But then life happens and you get tired, overwhelmed and busy - has this happened to you?

And suddenly the healthy choices that felt easy on Monday somehow feel incredibly hard by Thursday night.

Not because you’re lazy or because you’ve failed.

But because your brain and nervous system are overloaded.

One of the things I see so often with women is this quiet tendency to “lone wolf” their health journey. To carry everything silently. To keep trying to fix themselves privately while also being incredibly hard on themselves whenever they have a life wobble.

And I know you probably already know this...that support changes everything..

Sometimes just knowing someone is walking beside you… or with you or even having those little “well done” messages… can completely shift your mindset and momentum.

When healthy choices become easier to see and easier to repeat, they slowly begin requiring less effort. Less mental energy. Less fighting, judging and sabotaging yourself.

Rituals, Practices & Pausing

One of my favourite things to do and one of the things that has changed my life the most is creating tiny rituals & practices for myself that help me stay on track.

The biggest bonus for me is that they eventually turn into a habit- so I don’t have to think about it too much - I just go and do…

They are just small, repeatable things that support my mind and my body.

For me, this looks like organising a “walk & talk” with a friend, going to the gym, having my breakfast outside.
(Love our walk & talks Samantha Boardman 💕)

These are all small - however together they have a greater impact on my emotional & physical health.

In the work that I do with women who are struggling with the unpleasant symptoms of menopause- I often hear that to overcome these symptoms themselves, they’ll;

- apply stricter rules

- push harder

- develop an all-or-nothing mindset

- look for motivation outside of themselves

But the brain doesn’t actually change by doing these..

Your brain changes through:

- repetition

- association

- predictability

- tiny consistent actions

And this matters so much more in midlife.

What I’ve experienced myself is that when sleep is disrupted, stress is high, hormones are shifting and my brain feels overloaded & overwhelmed- everything feels exhausting before I even begin.

What I love to do is to guide women on how to create a life, brain and nervous system that naturally supports the woman they’re becoming. 🌸

This is the kind of deeper mind-body work I do inside my VIP Community and honestly, the transformations that happen when women finally stop fighting themselves are incredibly powerful.

Shortly I’ll be offering a 5 Day FREE RESET - just you and me private 1:1.

If you’d like to hop in a wait list pls PM me & send you more details 😊

I’ve had to learn the hard way…

There have been so many nights where I haven’t slept well.

Waking at 2am… 3am… mind ticking over…
and then trying to get through the next day feeling foggy, flat, and extra hungry, craving food I would not normally look for..

And on those days?

No matter how “good” I tried to be with food…
it always felt harder.

Here’s why…

When it comes to weight gain in menopause, you’re not just fighting with your willpower…you’re battling with your brain and your hormones.

And poor sleep shifts both.

Your thinking brain says:
“I’ll eat well today.”

But your emotional brain and your body says:
“I’m exhausted… I need energy now.”

And guess which one wins? Yep! Your Emotional Brain!

This is what poor sleep actually does when you don’t sleep well:

- Hunger hormones increase → you feel hungrier
- Cravings go up → especially for sugar + quick carbs
- Insulin sensitivity drops → your body stores more, burns less

So even when you feel like you’re doing everything right…
your body is quietly working against you.

Not because something’s wrong with you…
but because your system is trying to cope with this new age and stage of life.

The shift most women don’t realise sleep isn’t just “rest.”

It’s where your body and mind resets:
- your metabolism
- your appetite signals
- your stress response
- Your thoughts

✨ Better sleep = better decisions without forcing it
✨ Better sleep = fewer cravings, more control

👉 GEM:
Tonight, go to bed just 15 minutes earlier, and then progress a little more each week if your a night owl until your tucked up all comfy by 9.30pm.

Just for tonight… notice what changes.

If this feels like your pattern - tired, wired, and doing your best but not seeing results…
you’re not alone, and you don’t have to figure it out on your own.

Inside my free community, this is exactly what we work on… resetting your sleep, your cravings, and your body in a way that actually works in midlife.

Here’s something I don’t see many women talking about or even taking into consideration when it comes to weight and it’s loss..

And it’s especially important in midlife when weight gain around the middle becomes a big focus.

it’s not just what you eat… it’s how fast you eat it!

As an Eating Psychology Coach one of the first things we were taught was that we’re not just feeding our body…

We’re working with our brain as well.

When we eat fast, it sends a signal to our brain that there is danger - and this will automatically kick in the stress response..

- Increase cortisol
- Decrease digestion
- Hold onto fat

And here’s the part that’s really interesting…
Research suggests that when you eat slowly, not only are you sending an “all is well in my world” message to your brain…

You can also eat up to 16% less food
without dieting, tracking, or restriction.

Why?

Because your brain and gut actually get time to talk to each other.

3 reasons this matters in menopause

1. It lowers your stress response (cortisol)
When you eat quickly, your body thinks you are being chased by a saber tooth tiger (aka stress response)
Slowing down signals safety which helps reduce cortisol…
and that directly impacts belly fat storage.

2. It improves fullness signals
Our Hunger Hormones Leptin and Ghrelin (your “I’m full” & “Im hungry”signals)
take time to kick in.
If you rush… you override them
If you slow down… you naturally eat less.

3. It supports digestion + reduces bloating
Eating slowly means:
- better chewing
- better breakdown of food
- less load on your gut
Which = less bloating, more energy, better absorption.

✨ This isn’t about eating perfectly
✨ It’s about creating a state where your body can actually respond

👉 GEM:
At your next meal…
put your fork down between bites and take in a nice deep breath before the next load of food…and repeat until you're finished - then notice what changes.

If this sounds better than restriction and calorie counting…

It’s exactly the kind of work we do inside my free community

Because small changes create real results.

Being good was always such a battle for me….because I would always find my mind justifying why it was OK to eat that sweet thing….that I know I didn't really need…

It wasn't until I hit my 50’s that I realised just how much of a part our mind plays in the way we eat, think and feel.

Then in my mid 60’s I started to gain weight….well into post menopause and I began to delve deeper…..

I found that when it comes to weight gain in menopause,
you’re not working with one mind…
you’re actually working with two.

The thinking mind says:
“I’ll be good today and eat really well”

And then the the emotional mind kicks in and says:
“I’ve been good so I'm going to have that yummy thing….”

And guess which one wins when you’re stressed or exhausted?
For me it was always my emotional mind…but it wasn't because I was lacking in willpower or that I was weak…

It was because my brain was doing what it does best….which is protecting me when it knows Im tired, I need energy and comfort..

✨ Comfort will always win over control when your system feels unsafe (aka tired & emotional)

👉 GEM:
Instead of drumming up more discipline - allow yourself to get curious: “how can I support myself right now?” “What do I need - other than food - that will make me feel better?”

If this made you realise “this sounds a lot like me”…
comment RESET and I’ll send you the next step.
