How smartphones impact the developing brain 📱

Smartphones have become a normal part of everyday life - but for children, their brains are still developing in ways that make them especially sensitive to stimulation. đź’

Early and frequent exposure can impact focus, impulse control, and emotional regulation, as the brain adapts to fast-paced content, instant rewards, and constant input.

This doesn’t mean technology is “bad” - but it does mean that timing, boundaries, and guidance matter. Waiting a little longer, and supporting children in building strong foundations first, can make a meaningful difference. 🤍

In this post, I’ve shared some gentle recommendations to help you navigate this space with more clarity and confidence.

Many of us may notice different parts of ourselves showing up at different times.

Perhaps there is a part that worries.
A part that strives to get everything right.
A part that avoids conflict.
A part that withdraws when life feels overwhelming.
A part that works hard to keep everyone else happy.
Or a part that tries to keep you safe in the only way it knows how.

The parts that show up for you will be uniquely yours.
Sometimes we may judge these parts.
Sometimes we might fear them.
Sometimes we wish they would simply disappear.

But what if these parts are not the problem?
What if they developed for a reason?
What if, beneath the anxiety, self-criticism, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or withdrawal, there is a part of you trying to protect you from pain, rejection, uncertainty, or hurt?

In Internal Family Systems (IFS), we learn that these parts are not all of who we are. They are aspects of us that have developed over time, often carrying important stories and protective roles.

Rather than pushing them away, we can begin to turn towards them with curiosity.
We can befriend them.

We can listen to what they may be trying to tell us.

When we create space to notice our parts, rather than becoming consumed by them, something begins to shift.

We gain understanding.

We develop compassion for ourselves.

And we discover that we are so much more than any one thought, feeling, emotion, or reaction.

What part of you might be asking for a little understanding today? 🌿✨

There can be a quiet shift that happens when children grow more independent.

The role that once filled so much of your time, energy, and identity begins to change… and with that can come unexpected feelings. 💭

For some women, this chapter brings space - but also uncertainty.
A wondering of:
Who am I beyond being needed in the same way?
What do I want now?
What comes next for me?

These questions are more common than many people realise. 🤍

This transition isn’t about losing yourself, it can be an opportunity to reconnect with the parts of you that may have been sitting quietly in the background for a long time.

Through counselling and mindfulness, I can support you with navigating life transitions with greater self-awareness, compassion, and connection to themselves.

If this chapter feels familiar to you, I’d love to connect. ✨

Mindfulness is more than just “being calm” 🌿

Teacher and psychologist Tara Brach describes mindfulness as paying attention to the present moment with compassion and without judgement - a kind of “presence of heart.” 💭

Rather than trying to stop thoughts or force ourselves to feel differently, mindfulness invites us to notice what is happening within and around us with openness and care.

Over time, this can help soften emotional reactivity, strengthen self-awareness, and create a deeper sense of connection to ourselves and our lives. 🤍

Through counselling, mindfulness, and meditation practices, I can support you in learning how to bring this kind awareness into your everyday life in a way that feels gentle, grounded, and sustainable.

If you’d like to explore mindfulness more deeply, I’d love to connect with you. ✨ https://alitemind.au/?utm_name=sked&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_content=sked_69e9b1a0a7502704b19209b9

Over the years, I’ve come to understand that grief does not always look the way we expect it to. 🌿

Sometimes it is not only about losing someone we love, but also the quiet endings, life transitions, unmet hopes, or the parts of ourselves we slowly outgrow along the way.
I often see how deeply people carry these changes within them, sometimes without even realising they are grieving.

I believe grief is not something we need to rush through or “fix,” but something we move through gently, with compassion, self-awareness and care.

If you are navigating a season of change, please know you are not alone.

At Alite Mind, I am here to hold space for you and support you through each part of your healing journey. 🤍

Authenticity will always be your greatest asset. Not perfection. Not performance. Not pretending to have it all together. 🙏🏻

Your most honest self will always guide you home. 🌿

There is something deeply powerful about allowing yourself to show up as you are with truth, softness, courage, uncertainty, wisdom and heart. The more we honour our authentic voice, the more aligned our life becomes. 🌳

Authenticity creates connection.Authenticity creates peace.Authenticity creates freedom. 🩵

Do you ever feel like no matter how much you do, there’s still a part of you wondering if it’s enough?

So many women carry an invisible pressure to keep going, keep achieving, keep holding everything together for everyone around them. Over time, this can leave the nervous system feeling exhausted, overwhelmed and unable to truly rest.

Often, this isn’t about doing more it’s about the deeper belief that our worth is connected to productivity, perfection or how much we can carry.

In my latest blog, I gently explore how these patterns can develop, the impact they can have on emotional wellbeing, and ways to begin softening self-pressure with more compassion, awareness and self-connection. 🌸

Celebrating World Meditation Day 🌿

Today is a gentle reminder to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with the present moment. 🤍

In a world that moves so quickly, meditation invites us to pause… to soften… and to simply be. 💭

Meditation isn’t about clearing the mind or getting it “right.” It’s about creating space for awareness, self-compassion, and presence within the moments of everyday life.

Even a few minutes of meditation can help calm the nervous system, reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep, increase emotional awareness, and create a greater sense of inner balance.

Over time, it can deepen our connection to ourselves, support resilience through life’s challenges, and help us respond to life with more patience and clarity rather than reactivity. 🌸

To celebrate World Meditation Day, I’d love to share my free guided meditation Relaxing Into Now, available on YouTube and Spotify.

Wherever you are today, may you gift yourself a few quiet moments to pause, breathe, and return to yourself. ✨

Hi Everyone, 🌺
I’m reaching out to share a beautiful opportunity within my business tucked away in a peaceful pocket of Tea Tree Gully. This is more than just a room for rent it’s a space intentionally designed to feel calm, grounding, and supportive for both practitioners and clients.

I’m looking for a female practitioner who feels aligned with a gentle, heart-led approach to their work. Someone who values presence, connection, and intention and who wants to be part of an environment that reflects those same values. 🙏🏻

The room is shared with another like-minded practitioner and has developed a quiet, respectful, and nurturing energy. It’s the kind of place where clients instantly feel at ease, and where practitioners can show up fully in their work without distraction or pressure.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who:
- Is growing or transitioning their practice
- Is looking for consistency without the commitment of a full-time lease
- Is wanting to work within a supportive, like-minded environment
- Is drawn to calm, intentional, and energetically aligned space

The details:
- Part-time access -flexibility across Saturday, Sunday and Mondays.
- A beautifully maintained, shared treatment room
- Welcoming waiting area for clients
- Kitchen and bathroom facilities
- Free onsite parking and accessible facilities
- A peaceful, quiet location away from busy commercial settings
- Very reasonable rent, designed to support sustainable growth

What makes this space special isn’t just the physical environment, but the feeling within it. It’s a place where you can build something meaningful at your own pace while feeling supported and grounded.

If this resonates with you, or if someone comes to mind who would be a perfect fit, I would absolutely love to connect. ❤️

Please feel free to reach out at [email protected] with a little about yourself and your practice, or to ask any questions.
