Australia is facing pharmacist shortages, especially in rural and regional communities. At the same time, many overseas pharmacists who successfully passed the KAPS exam are struggling to secure internships, registration pathways, sponsorship, or visas within the current 3-year validity period.

For many candidates, 2026 could mean the expiry of years of hard work, financial investment, and professional dreams.

Extending KAPS validity from 3 years to 6 years would provide fairness, flexibility, and a practical solution to support skilled pharmacists who are already qualified and ready to contribute to Australia’s healthcare system.
