Last Month, our Staff from Port Augusta Jobnet team attended the Career Roadshow – Discover Your Future Self at Central Oval, hosted by Port Augusta City Council.

The event brought together students, job seekers, career changers, businesses, training providers, and community organisations to explore employment, education, and career pathways available across the region.

Our Jobnet team enjoyed connecting with local organisations, strengthening partnerships, and exploring new opportunities to support clients on their employment journeys. Visitors to the CBS stall also got involved in our interactive employment-themed “Find A Word” activity, which proved to be a fun way to engage with the community.

CBS Inc. is proud to support events that promote inclusive employment, career development, and strong community connections. We look forward to continuing to build relationships that create meaningful opportunities for people across the region.

☕🤝 Connecting with our Community

This morning, Chris from our Stirling team attended the local Cuppa & Chat gathering with community service providers and local residents.

We're pleased to share that CBS Inc. has agreed to join a six-week roster to help strengthen connections, provide information about available supports, and engage with members of the local community.

Building strong community partnerships is an important part of what we do, and we look forward to meeting more locals, sharing a cuppa, and having meaningful conversations in the weeks ahead.

We look forward to seeing you there! 😊

What an incredible weekend away at El Shaddai Camp! 🏕️✨

Our Beyond Making it Happen group had an amazing time stepping outside our comfort zones, building friendships, and making memories that will last a lifetime. Throughout the weekend, everyone got involved in a range of exciting activities including laser tag, vertical crate climbing, giant slingshot, rock climbing, a bonfire under the stars, and plenty of fun team-building and group activities.

It was wonderful to see everyone encouraging one another, trying new things, and sharing so many laughs along the way. The weekend was filled with adventure, connection, personal achievements, and lots of smiles.

A huge thank you to El Shaddai Camp for hosting us and helping create such a memorable experience. We had an absolute blast and are already looking forward to our next camp adventure!

Marcus connected to Community Bridging Services as a student in the Aim Higher program. His goal was to work for Local Government, with particular interest in waste management.

Despite some barriers, a work experience placement was secured in his local area with the Port Pirie Regional Council . Marcus was eagerly engaged in the placement, which included completion of the council’s new employee onboarding induction process. Following that, he was excited to get to tour the council chambers and broader infrastructure, including trips to Napperby and Nelshaby, which allowed him to develop a deeper understanding of the broader scope of the council’s services and operations.

Marcus then moved on to experience some of the “hands on” aspects of working for the council, including riding in the street sweeper and assisting at the weighbridge. He particularly enjoyed greeting customers, discussing the materials they were disposing of, signing vehicles in and out, and processing customer fees.

Marcus also demonstrated initiative and confidence by requesting to meet with the CEO. Staff organised this opportunity, and the CEO took the time to personally meet with Marcus and present him with a gift bag from the team.

Marcus thoroughly enjoyed his work experience placement with the Port Pirie Regional Council and gained valuable exposure to a variety of roles and responsibilities.

This placement further reinforced Marcus’ goal of pursuing future employment within local government and confirmed his strong interest in working for Council.

🌟 Celebrating Employment Success in Port Pirie! 🌟

We are proud to see our Port Pirie client, Brayden Pirie, featured in the May 2026 edition of Hotel SA magazine for his outstanding contribution at the North Star Hotel.

After never having been employed before, Brayden joined the North Star Hotel earlier this year and now works up to 35 hours per week across five days as the hotel's cleaner. His dedication, reliability and strong work ethic have made a lasting impression on the team.

As featured in the article, hotel owner Emma Ramke described Brayden as “the model employee”, saying:
"He’s there well before he has to start. He checks in to see if there is anything we need before he finishes."
The article also highlights the benefits of creating inclusive workplaces:
"It’s a value add to your business, it’s a value add to your staff. And it has untapped potential."

At CBS Inc., we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to demonstrate their strengths in the workplace. Brayden's success is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when employers embrace inclusion and focus on ability.

Congratulations Brayden and thank you to the North Star Hotel team for creating meaningful employment opportunities in our community.

🎉 A Milestone for the Riverland Community 🎉

CBS Inc. is proud to announce the purchase of the Chaffey Community Centre, securing the future of this much-loved community hub for generations to come.

For the past five years, CBS Inc. has proudly managed the Centre, working alongside local residents, community groups, and partners to deliver inclusive programs, support services, community events, and initiatives that make a real difference.

Home to important services such as Foodbank, Kosmos Kitchen, Salvos Bread, and the Riverland Christmas Appeal, the Chaffey Community Centre continues to be a place where people feel welcomed, connected, and supported.

This investment demonstrates our long-term commitment to the Riverland community and creates exciting opportunities to expand services, strengthen community connections, and support more people to achieve their goals through employment, education, NDIS supports, recreation, and community participation.

We would like to thank Renmark Paringa Council for their collaboration and support throughout the management and transition process.

We look forward to continuing to work with the Riverland community to ensure the Chaffey Community Centre remains a vibrant, inclusive, and welcoming space for everyone.

💙 Together, we're building stronger communities and brighter futures.

Beyond participant and HI Project graduate Robbie has been working as a kitchenhand at Glanville Hall since graduating from the HI Project in September.

His role includes food preparation, washing dishes, cleaning, and providing general kitchen support for a range of events, from high teas and baby showers to weddings.

The team at Glanville Hall have made Robbie feel incredibly welcome and supported, helping his confidence grow and enabling him to become a valued member of the team. He now walks to and from work independently and loves putting his feet up after a busy shift with a hot choccy and some biscuits.

Robbie's family says the HI Project opened up a new pathway for his future that he may not have considered otherwise.

We love seeing success stories like Robbie's!
