🎨 ART in MOTION 🎨
*See the world through another perspective.*

We are excited to launch Art in Motion — a community art exhibition created by young people aged 10–25, sharing lived experiences through creativity, storytelling, and self-expression.

This exhibition invites young artists to explore themes such as:
✨ ADHD
✨ Autism
✨ Anxiety
✨ Disability
✨ Mental health
✨ Identity and belonging
✨ Emotion, sensory experiences, and perspective

Art in Motion aims to create a space where young people feel safe to express who they are while also helping our wider community better understand the diverse ways people experience and navigate the world.

Through creativity, we hope to build:
🖌 Understanding
🖌 Inclusion
🖌 Connection
🖌 Acceptance

All forms of art and creative expression are welcome, and there may also be opportunities for artists to display and sell their artwork during the exhibition.

💛 Any funds raised through Art in Motion will support future community projects and low-cost support opportunities.
🖼 Any sales of artwork will go entirely to the artist.

📍Location, dates, and further event information will be shared once participant numbers are confirmed.

If you know a young person who may be interested in being involved, we would love to hear from you.

Please complete the Expression of Interest form below 👇

Art making can be a space to allow and welcome all these human qualities to come through and just be with them 🎨

And, the ‘art’ doesn’t need to look good 🎨

Its a tool to express what’s inside (the body, heart or head)🎨

To ‘view’ and share your stories with others, who might have similar /different experiences , and connect through the shared desire to be seen and understood and relieved perhaps, that we are all very human ✨🎨🧡

The ability to express something on your mind, or in your heart, using ‘art making’ can be incredibly cathartic. 🎨

You don’t need to be creative or artistic 👍

Simply willing to have a go, using art materials as a tool ( not necessarily in a conventional manner)

The art making could be anything from paper collage, acrylic painting, pencil scribbles, found natural objects , shells, flowers , be as inventive as you need, to express the thing in your heart or mind🎨

You then have the option of finding new perspectives, changing the art, or putting the art somewhere safe, so many possibilities 🎨

Imagine you’re pregnant again. 12 centuries BCE...

This is not just a figurine. It’s a clay rhyton — a vessel for libations, shaped as a pregnant woman. Made 3200 years ago, during the Post-Palatial period of Minoan Crete, 1300–1200 BCE.

Outstanding Clay Rhyton in the Form of a Pregnant Woman.
Archaeological Museum of Heraklion

She sits with one hand cradling her belly, the other touching her head. Wide eyes look straight at you. Calm. No fear. No hurry. Just knowing.

The cracks in the clay are time. They run over her belly, her breasts, her face. But they don’t touch the main thing: the sense of life inside.

This isn’t a goddess on a pedestal. It’s you. A woman from a village near Knossos. The one who prayed for safe childbirth, poured wine and oil into this vessel, asking the earth and the Great Mother to be merciful.

3000 years erased her name. But they left the gesture: hand on belly. And it’s understood without words in any era.

Genius is in simplicity. Art didn’t invent pregnancy. It recognized it.

This is a messy and quick method to create a lotus flower from clay;

🪷 roll out the clay,
🪷 Draw the petal shape onto the clay surface
🪷 cut and decorate petals .
🪷 attach to the body of the lotus
🪷 voila !

Usually slip ( clay glue) wld be used to attach the petals to the body so they won’t fall off during the firing process.

Decorating the clay can be absorbing and relaxing , utilising clay sculpting tools, skewers , finding textures and paraphernalia from the garden.🌿🌸
Freedom in decorating
The possibilities are endless 🪷
And fun 🧡

Join me on May 30th for this wellbeing lotus flower workshop
