This week is Healthy Bones Action Week (August 25-31) — a great prompt to ask yourself: how strong are my bones?

Fractures aren’t just an “older age” problem; bone loss can start silently well before symptoms appear, especially in women.

Weight-bearing exercise, adequate calcium intake, and healthy vitamin D levels are your best defence.

Not sure where you stand? Speak to your GP about a bone health check. Find out more: www.healthybonesaustralia.org.au

Are you concerned about your bone health?

A bone mineral density scan — also known as a DEXA scan (dual energy X-ray absorptiometry) — is a quick, painless test that measures bone density, usually at the hip and lower spine, to assess your risk of osteoporosis and fracture.

The scan itself is simple: you lie on a padded table while a low-dose X-ray arm passes over your body. No injections, and minimal preparation required.

The results give your GP the evidence needed to provide individualised guidance for optimising your bone health.

It’s worth noting that clinical need and Medicare rebate eligibility for a bone scan are assessed separately — so eligibility isn’t automatic.

🤱 Breastfeeding Awareness — Support, Knowledge, Respect

Breastfeeding Awareness week is a chance to celebrate the many benefits of breastfeeding — for both babies and mothers:

🌿 For babies: supports immune health, healthy growth, and brain development.
🌿 For mothers: may reduce the risk of certain cancers, support recovery, and strengthen the parent–child bond.

But breastfeeding is just one of the ways to feed a baby — and every family’s journey is different.

The Doctors working at Crafter Health believe in:
✅ Evidence-based information so you can make informed choices
✅ Practical support to help you reach your feeding goals
✅ Compassion and respect for every family’s circumstances

Whether breastfeeding, mixed feeding or formula feeding, the Doctors working at Crafter Health are here to walk alongside you, without judgement.

📞 Call us to book a Mums & Bubs consultation with our GP trained in Neuroprotective Developmental Care (NDC) for personalised infant feeding support.

👶 ‘Mums & Bubs’ Service at Crafter Health

Support that’s calm, connected, and backed by evidence.

Our dedicated Mums and Bubs service provides longer appointments designed to support parents during the early months of their baby’s life — because this season is important, and so are you.

These appointments are delivered by a Dr with additional specialised training in Neuroprotective Developmental Care (NDC), through ‘the NDC institute, home of Possums’. This service offers a holistic and evidence-based approach to infant care.

This service can help with:
💤 Infant sleep that supports both baby’s and parents’ wellbeing
🍼 Breastfeeding, bottle feeding, and mixed feeding challenges
😢 Crying, unsettled behaviour, and sensory regulation
👩‍👧 Parent-infant connection and mental health
🌱 Infant development grounded in the latest research

The NDC approach integrates neuroscience, lactation science, infant development, and mental health — offering care that is both gentle and scientifically sound.

📞 To book a Mums and Bubs appointment, please call the clinic directly.

Effective diabetes management is about more than just monitoring blood sugar; it requires a comprehensive, head-to-toe approach to prevent long-term complications.

A GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP) at Crafter Health can help you stay on track with the four pillars of diabetes monitoring.

Blood Tests: You should have an HbA1c test every 3 to 6 months to measure your average glucose levels, alongside an annual check of your cholesterol and lipids.

Foot Checks: A professional foot examination is recommended at least once a year to check for changes in circulation or nerve sensation.

Eye Checks: A comprehensive eye exam by an optometrist or ophthalmologist is required every 1 to 2 years to screen for diabetic retinopathy.

Kidney Checks: An annual urine and blood test is essential to monitor your kidney function and detect early signs of stress on the renal system.

By formalising these checks through a management plan, your GP ensures no part of your health is overlooked.

Speak to your GP consulting at Crafter Health today regarding your Chronic Disease Care Plan for optimising your diabetes management.
