Does your tummy still feel different after having a baby? ❤️

That little “gap” or bulge down the middle of your abdomen may be more than just a change from pregnancy.

Diastasis recti is common during pregnancy and postpartum — but what’s actually happening beneath the surface? From hormones and genetics to the important role of the linea alba, understanding your abdominal wall can help you better understand your recovery.

If you’re pregnant, newly postpartum or still wondering about your core years after having children, this article explains what diastasis recti is, why it happens and how you can support your body through recovery.

💗 Your body grew a baby. It deserves understanding, support and time to recover.

Getting strong in pregnancy isn’t about aesthetics — it’s about raising your body’s threshold to load. 🤍

Softer, stretchier tissue + a growing bump + naturally doing less = a body with less capacity, right when it’s being asked to do more.

That’s the work: getting you strong for the job in hand, at your own pace and in your pregnant body. Strong for the carry. Strong for the birth. Strong for the recovery.

Swapped the clinic for courtside this week — headed to the Gold Coast with Banksia Park for their interschool netball tournament with Schools In Action, running game prep, warm-ups, cool-downs, muscle prep and recovery sessions for the girls over the 4 days.
It’s a good reminder that “women’s health physio” isn’t just clinic-based rehab — it’s also making sure young athletes are moving well, recovering properly, and building habits now that protect their bodies for life. Big believer in getting this right early.
Huge few days, tired legs (mine included), great tournament.

Not every race goes to plan. And sometimes that’s the hardest lesson to sit with.
I trained for this one. Really trained. The prep was there, the fitness was there — I was tracking comfortably for a sub-2 hour half marathon and honestly? I felt good.
Then at 3km my knee had other ideas.
I ignored it. Told myself it would settle. It didn’t slow me down so I kept going. Until it did slow me down. Until every single step hurt. Until my race was over at 15km — not because I stopped, but because my body made the decision for me.
I watched the 2hr pacer go past. Then the 2:06. Then the 2:10.
Strangers stopped to tell me I had this. I smiled and said thank you and knew that I really, really didn’t.
I cried the last kilometre. Ugly cried. And crossed the line anyway because I was getting that medal.
Mentally this was one of the hardest things I’ve done. I felt like I’d failed something I’d worked so hard for. A result that slipped away because of something I’d missed — despite never having had knee pain a day in my training.
But here’s what I’m sitting with now:
I showed up. I did the work. My body was ready — it just had one thing to say on race day that I wasn’t expecting.
I’m not going to pretend that’s not disappointing. It is. Deeply.
But I’m 8 weeks out from Hyrox, I have another half marathon to my name, and I have a promise to myself — I will never be blindsided by my body again.
Onward. 🖤

Not all assessments are created equal — and “you have a prolapse” is not enough information.
Women’s health physios with advanced prolapse training use the POP-Q system (Pelvic Organ Prolapse Quantification) — the gold standard for assessing prolapse worldwide.
Here’s what it involves:
🔹 Specific points along the vaginal walls are measured in centimetres relative to the h***n (our zero reference point)
🔹 You bear down so we see the prolapse at its fullest extent
🔹 Everything gets recorded and translated into a stage from 0–4
→ Stage 0: No prolapse
→ Stage 1: Above the h***n — well supported
→ Stage 2: At the h***n
→ Stage 3: Below the h***n
→ Stage 4: Complete prolapse
It’s precise, repeatable, and means we can actually track whether your treatment is working. 📊
Not a rough guess. A proper assessment. Because you deserve to know exactly what’s going on — and what to do about it.

One of my favourite things about school holidays? A full reset. 🧹✨
Not just at home — but in the clinic and studio too. Washing walls, scrubbing windows, restocking, fresh laundry, a full reformer strip and fix… and the introduction of a few new things 👀 (you’ll have to keep your eyes open for those!)
Term 2 2026 — we are SO ready for you.
We have so much to celebrate this term and I genuinely cannot wait to share it all with you.
To our beautiful clients and community — we can’t wait to welcome you back into our little home. It’s warm, it’s friendly, and it’s ready for you. ✨🍁☺️
