Interested in exploring practical ways to live more sustainably?

Living Lightly Locally is seeking expressions of interest from people who would like to take part in a unique education and research project exploring sustainable living in everyday life.

This free 12-month program combines learning, community participation and research to better understand what helps people make positive changes at home and in their local communities. Participants will explore topics including wellbeing, waste, energy, water, transport, food, gardens, climate and community through a combination of self-paced learning and shared discussion.

Join an information session at the Pasadena Community Centre tonight, Tuesday 9 June, from 6pm to 7pm to learn more.

Following completion of the subgrade, kerbing is now underway at the Winston Avenue and Caulfield Avenue intersection upgrade.

The project is continuing to take shape as improvements are delivered to enhance safety for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.

While works are underway, businesses along Winston Avenue remain open and accessible. If you're in the area, we encourage you to stop by for a coffee or meal, browse local shops, book a service or explore what our local businesses have to offer.

Our annual tree planting program is now underway and will continue through to October, helping to grow shade, support biodiversity and enhance our streets and reserves.

Around 1,800 trees will be planted across our city over the coming months. New trees will replace dead or diseased trees, fill gaps in established avenues and be planted in response to resident requests.

Colebrook Reconciliation Park at Eden Hills stands as a place of reflection and remembrance. As we mark National Reconciliation Week, we reflect on places that hold deep cultural and historical significance in our community.

The site of the former Colebrook Home now serves to honour the Aboriginal children and their families of the Stolen Generation, with two striking sculptures, the 'Fountain of Tears' and the 'Grieving Mother' sculpted by Silvio Apponyi marking their stories

For information on Colebrook and the Blackwood Reconciliation Group please email [email protected].

City of Mitcham Mayor Dr Heather Holmes-Ross reflected on the importance of reconciliation and this year’s National Reconciliation Week theme, 'All In', at a flag raising ceremony at the Civic Centre today.

Joined by CEO Matt Pears and Council Member Joanna Wells, Mayor Holmes-Ross helped raise the Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Australian flags in unison as a symbol of our ongoing reconciliation journey.

National Reconciliation Week, 27 May to 3 June, is a time for reflection, learning and respectful connection.
