Everyone deserves care that feels safe, respectful, and right for them. If something doesn’t feel right, you have the right to speak up.

At Alpha Support at Home, we value your voice, and you’ll always be listened to, respected, and supported when you share concerns.

And if you see something serious like unsafe care, fraud, or dangerous behaviour, you can make a ‘whistleblower disclosure’ under the Aged Care Act 2024.

The latest reforms are now in effect, and they’re changing the way in-home care is delivered. One of the biggest updates? The new Support at Home program.

We know it can feel overwhelming with so much information to take in, but you’re not alone. We’re here to make it easier for you.

One of the most common questions we hear from our clients is “how has pricing changed under the new Aged Care Act 2024 for in home care services”?

The latest aged care reforms officially came into effect from 1 November 2025, marking a significant milestone for in home support services.

Heads up if you're considering in-home care and support.

Since 1 November, in-home care services provided previously under the Home Care Packages program are now provided under the Support at Home program. These services are now grouped into three categories: Clinical Supports – like nursing care, Independence Supports – like help with showering, Everyday Living Supports – like gardening and house cleaning.

But what’s important to know is that you won’t automatically get access to all services you might like or want.

You first need to be assessed by a government assessor, who will, if you’re approved for funding, provide you with a support plan and notice of decision regarding the services you have been approved to receive.

Not sure if you’ll need to pay more for your in-home care under the new aged care reforms?

If you were receiving a Home Care Package (HCP), were on the National Priority System, or assessed as eligible on or before 12 September 2024, a ‘no worse off’ principle applies. That means your fees won’t increase. You’ll either pay the same, or less than before.

For anyone else not fitting that criteria, your contributions will depend on your funding level and personal financial situation whether you're a full pensioner, part pensioner, or self-funded retiree.

Services Australia will undertake an assessment with you and advise you directly of the outcome regarding contributions you will be asked to make.
