Thinking of trying weight loss medication after bariatric surgery? 🚦

If you have hit a plateau or experienced weight regain, it can be tempting to reach for a quick solution . . .

But it is first important to stop and consider if this is the best step for you πŸ€”

Whilst medication can be a valuable tool on the weight loss surgery journey, there are times when it also may not.

If you are getting tripped up by the 'Common Culprits' we see involved in plateaus and weight regain, medication may just be a bandaid solution 🩹

Yes, medication might act as a temporary fix, but it will not solve the underlying problem long term if your eating and lifestyle habits are not aligned with your goals.

Unless you address the 'Common Culprits' first, you might end up spending a lot of money, only to end up back where you started . . . 😳

Before you invest hundreds of dollars, we invite you to set aside just one hour to join our FREE online workshop, Halt the Weight Regain Train πŸš‚

This isn’t just another talk about portion sizes and willpower πŸ™…πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

We will be covering the three biggest culprits behind weight regain after weight loss surgery including:
πŸ‘‰πŸ» restricting and under-eating
πŸ‘‰πŸ» working against your surgery (without even realising)
πŸ‘‰πŸ» not truly understanding the role of protein post-op.

You will learn things most people are never told, even years after surgery πŸ’‘

This is a rare chance to walk away with real strategies that work! πŸ’ͺ🏻

Should I drink through a straw after weight loss surgery? πŸ₯€

The advice to avoid drinking through a straw continues to circulate, fearing it may cause bloating and discomfort.

But is there evidence to support this claim? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Not really πŸ™…πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

In fact, there is no solid proof that sipping through a straw leads to abdominal gas.

If using a straw helps you stay hydrated, and doesn’t cause you any discomfort it's perfectly okay! πŸ™ŒπŸ»

Remember, hydration is so important following your surgery, so, if a straw makes it easier, go ahead and sip away! πŸ’§

Be sure give us a πŸ‘πŸ» to help this post spread the word amongst the bariatric community!

This Mixed Vegetable Soup is made with foods from the 'allowed' list of foods on the pre surgery phase. It can also be served chunky or smooth, depending on your preference.

It is perfect to keep on hand for when the hunger hits and will give you a boost of fibre, vitamins and minerals πŸ‘Œ

Mixed Vegetable Soup
Oil spray
2 cloves garlic, crushed
5 cups salt reduced chicken or vegetable stock
1 carrot, peeled and diced
1 onion, diced
Β½ zucchini, diced
ΒΌ cabbage, chopped
1 cup green beans, chopped
ΒΌ cauliflower, finely diced
2 tablespoons no added salt tomato paste
1 cup no added salt, chopped tinned tomatoes
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Heat a saucepan that has been sprayed with oil. Add the carrots, onion and garlic and cook for about 5 minutes. Add all the remaining ingredients except the zucchini and bring to the boil. Cover, reduce the heat to medium and simmer for about 15 minutes or until the beans are tender. Add the zucchini and cook until zucchini is tender. Season with pepper to taste.

When eating with others not preparing for surgery, just add a tin of kidney beans or chickpeas and serve with some grainy toast πŸ˜‹

We did not expect to see 70% of our followers are sitting on a plateau or experiencing weight regain πŸ˜”

So, we put our heads together . . .

Having worked with hundreds of people who have been through a plateau or weight regain, we see very specific patterns.

Habits like eating and drinking together, grazing, relying on slider foods - they all allow you to eat more than your surgery intended.

And over time, that adds up to plateaus, hunger creeping back in, clothes getting tighter . . .

This does NOT mean your surgery failed, or that you failed.

It means there are practical, fixable reasons why things aren't working like they used to.

So if you are one of the 70% of people on a plateau or regaining weight, you need our FREE 20 Day Weight Regain Prevention Checklist.

Hair, skin and nail supplements are popular after bariatric surgery due to concerns around hair loss, but we never recommend them πŸ™…πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Taking multiple supplements can exceed upper limits for some nutrients, which then causes more problems 😳

For example, if a hair, skin and nail supplement is taken as well as a multivitamin, excess selenium is taken. Ironically excess selenium can cause brittle hair and nails, so makes things worse! 😬

Our recommendations are to:
βœ”οΈ take a weight loss surgery specific multivitamin
βœ”οΈ have regular blood tests
βœ”οΈ correct any deficiencies if they arise.

Your surgery was supposed to fix your weight problem.

So why does it feel like it's coming back?

The truth is, no one tells you about the habits that can work around your restriction.

Habits like eating and drinking together, grazing, relying on slider foods - they all allow you to eat more than your surgery intended.

And over time, that adds up to plateaus, hunger creeping back in, clothes getting tighter 😬

This does NOT mean your surgery failed, or that you failed.

It means there are practical, fixable reasons why things aren't working like they used to.

If regain has been sitting in the back of your mind, if your clothes are tighter, if food noise is increasing, if you're waking up at 3am worried you're going backwards, grab our FREE 20 Day Weight Regain Prevention Checklist and discover what's actually holding you back.
