You might not initially think of Yin Yoga as a practice for pain management, but rather think of it more of a nice calming, relaxing and grounding practice that you treat yourself to sometimes (and it is that, too).

Pain, and chronic pain in particular, can manifest in the body for many reasons. You might have not made the connect or have heard this before, but a lot of pain that manifests in the body can stem from things like suppressed emotions, stress and anxiety, patterns of tension in the body, habitual ways that you move your body, or perhaps not moving at all or not enough.

Your body is intelligent and adjusts to your environment- internal and external - which can either help or hinder depending on your circumstances.

Yin yoga can provide the perfect remedy for relieving pain in the body, and it works on a few different levels:

~it nourishes and hydrates the tissues of the body - fascia, tendons, ligaments, and the joints too
~it provides you with an opportunity to go within and be with yourself - your body, your breath, your energy, and your emotions
~it encourages a free flow of energy through your body
~it encourages you to go inward - this provides a beautiful opportunity for self-reflection, where you can acknowledge things that perhaps you would have missed otherwise
~it calms your nervous system, and encourages you to drop into the parasympathetic nervous system (rest & digest)

I can guarantee that if you are experiencing pain in your body, or even holding a lot of stress in your body, that you will feel more calm, more spacious, and less rigid in your body (basically instant relief) if you practice Yin Yoga.

As we descend down into the depths of Winter, this is an important time of deep reflection, rejuvenation and rest. As the seasons change, this is when our body can need a little extra support and loving care.

Together, we gather to honour the darkness ~ honouring the Winter Solstice, and honouring yourself.

Winter is aligned with the Water element, and the Bladder and Kidney meridians (energy channels) and organs. Our practice will be centred around supporting these areas of the physical and energetic bodies.

What to expect ~

The space will open with a centering meditation and breathwork. You will be guided to reflect on what you need to release, in order to enter the season of Winter with what matters most.

Next we will move through a Yin Yoga practice ~ gentle and supported floor based postures, to invoke our connection to the energy of Winter. This practice is crafted to align with the energy of the Water element.

During the final phase of the practice, you will be guided through a Yoga Nidra ~ a deeply healing and restorative guided body scan meditation. You are then guided seamlessly into Savasana ~ the final pose of rest. This is infused with the healing frequencies of Reiki, allowing you to fully rest, receive, and integrate the shifts that occur during the session.

There’s so much power and wisdom when we gather together and connect with the cycles of nature, while taking sacred time just for you.

Today’s Full Moon Practice was so beautiful 🌕🤎

A fusion of breath, meditation, yin yoga, yoga nidra & reiki healing ~ 2hrs of immersive healing bliss 🙏🏼

I was blessed to have some beautiful people join me, including some of my yoga teacher training crew 🧘🏼‍♀️
