Big city lights, outback insights! 🗺️✈️

Our very own Holly (Central West Occupational Therapist) and Esther (North West Team Leader) recently swapped the outback for Brisbane to inspire the next generation of healthcare champions at the Health Workforce Queensland Allied Health Student Careers Expo!

Through the event Holly and Esther were able to meet students and share their insights on what it’s like to ‘Go Rural’.

The team shared their experiences of what working in rural and remote communities is like and the lifestyle benefits of living and working in the Outback.

Thanks Health Workforce Queensland for having our team there. We can't wait to see some new faces out west soon! 🤠💼

MEET MONDAY 👋👋

To kick off the week, we'd like to introduce you to our Central West OT and all-round breathe of fresh air Catherine! 🍃🌬️

🧡Tell us a bit about your Professional Background?
I joined NWRH as an Allied Health Assistant at the end of 2024. At the completion of my bachelor’s degree, I transitioned from an Allied Health Assistant to an Occupational Therapist and have been with the company ever since.

💙What does your role entail?
As an Occupational Therapist I help people engage or re-engage in their desired occupations. I can often be found visiting clients’ homes in Longreach, Ilfracombe, Blackall, Tambo and Aramac. My tape measure is usually in hand – helping me prescribe equipment and home modifications.

💛Favourite part of your role?
All the travel I get to do! Regularly on the road servicing the central west region. Fortunate that I get to enjoy the occasional crumb steak from Tambo and chocolate chip cookie in Blackall.

🧡What's your hobbies outside of work?
Outside of work I enjoy walking my energetic border collie, swimming, running and baking the occasional sweet treat.

💙Tell us something interesting not many people may know about you?
I am a bit of a town hopper – growing up in Richmond, Blackall, Quilpie and Bundaberg. My parents do not miss the 12.5-hour drive from Quilpie to Charters Towers for boarding school!
