If I woke up tomorrow with heel pain, here are the three things I would do asap.

1. Supportive shoes for walking and exercising. My personal favourite are the Adrenaline GTS 25

2. Supportive shoes for at home. Some examples are , and

3. Jump on my and start building strength asap.

If you’re struggling with plantar fasciitis, make sure to comment “heel pain” and I’ll send through my guide to managing plantar fasciitis.

Do I have a heel spur?

This is a question we get asked everyday and the answer is…maybe.

A heel spur is very rarely the cause of pain, it’s almost always the plantar fascia.

So if you’ve been struggling with heel pain, make sure to give the team at My Family Podiatry a call.

If you’re struggling with foot or heel pain, this is the shoe I recommend the most often.

The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 24 has a 12mm heel drop that takes load off your Achilles, subtle arch support that eases strain on the plantar fascia, and GuideRails that keep your knees and ankles moving efficiently.

It’s stable, comfortable, and built to get you back to doing what you love — whether that’s running, walking, or training pain-free.

Archies vs Cheeki. Which is better?

Both are arch support thongs, but they suit different feet. Archies have a tighter strap and higher arch which softens over time, while Cheeki offer a wider fit, a more relaxed strap and slightly firmer support underfoot.

If you have a wider foot, Cheeki will usually feel more comfortable. If you prefer a snugger fit, Archies may suit you better.

My pick? Cheeki for my foot type. But both are great upgrades from flat pluggers.

We’re hiring at My Family Podiatry.

We’re looking for a podiatrist to join our team in Albany Creek, starting with 2–3 days per week, with the option to grow into more if it suits.

You’ll be working in a clinic with a great mix of general care and MSK patients, using equipment like shockwave therapy, diagnostic ultrasound and 3D orthotic scanning. No nursing home work, and a team that genuinely enjoys what they do.

More importantly, we want this to be the right fit for both sides.

You’ll be supported as you settle in, with opportunities to develop your skills across all areas of podiatry. At the same time, we value people who are motivated, keen to improve, and take pride in the care they provide.

If you’re looking for a clinic where you can grow, feel supported, and enjoy coming to work, we’d love to hear from you.

If you’re interested in applying, send us a DM and let’s have a chat!

This is why I always say to be careful with nail salons.

Not all salons are bad. Some are excellent. The problem is that as a customer, it can be very hard to tell the difference. Improperly sterilised tools can introduce bacteria and fungal spores under the nail, leading to infections like the green discolouration seen here.

If you are going to a nail salon, ask about their sterilisation process or consider bringing your own tools. And if your nails start changing colour, lifting, or looking abnormal, do not ignore it or cover it with polish. Early treatment is far easier and far more effective.

If you are concerned about your nails, have them checked by a podiatrist sooner rather than later.

Heel pain didn’t just “randomly” start…

It usually comes down to a few things:

• Wearing shoes with no support
• Doing more activity than your feet are ready for
• Changing surfaces at home (tiles, floorboards, no shoes)

Your feet hate sudden change.

What actually helps:

• Wear supportive shoes
• Build activity gradually instead of going all in
• Rotate your footwear instead of relying on one pair
• Add strengthening exercises alongside stretching to get the best long term results
