Physiotherapy & Exercise Physiology & Occupational Medicine colocated in a friendly clinic with a spacious exercise studio for strength training, injury rehabilitation, Workers Compensation, Pre-employment Medicals and Pre-employment Physical Testing. Working closely with our Sports Doctors our allied health team is available 8am to 6pm most days per week and Saturday morning 8am - noon.

Hamstring rehab is more than just getting back to running. 🏃‍♂️
Recently, at one of our in-house education sessions our whole clinical team discussed recent research in hamstring rehabilitation.
After a hamstring strain, flexibility and range of motion often return within 3–7 weeks — but strength deficits can remain well after an athlete is cleared to play.

A recent study compared 7 common rehab exercises based on:
✔️ Hamstring stretch demands
✔️ Hamstring force demands
…and compared them to the loads experienced during running and sprinting.

Key findings 👇
🔹 Hip Thrusts
Low force + low stretch
➡️ Great option in early-stage rehab

🔹 Nordic Hamstring Exercises & Eccentric Sliders
Higher force with minimal stretch
➡️ Useful during mid-stage progression

🔹 Romanian Deadlifts (RDLs) & Hamstring Bridges
Highest force + highest stretch
➡️ Can exceed sprinting demands and help prepare athletes for high-speed return to play

Learnings
Progressive loading matters. Resistance training exercises can provide valuable benchmarks alongside jogging, running and sprinting milestones during return-to-play rehabilitation. Well-planned rehab should gradually expose the hamstrings to increasing force and muscle length demands - not just running speed.

We are proud to sponsor ADHOC Orienteers who this morning held their 9th Primary Interschool Teams event. Given the weather forecast we’re even more proud to see 7 schools turn up and compete - in the unexpected sunshine!The children all walked and ran between 1.5 to 2km - and with 14 checkpoints to find on the way around the distance just happens!!! Exercise for the body and the mind.

Our physiotherapist Hafiz has been away for a while, working he says, but by the look of his photos from the Pakistan Premier League Cricket competition there are some social engagements too! His team Peshawar Zalmi are top of the table currently, no doubt partly due to his wealth of physiotherapy experience. He will be back seeing clients here in Albany from 11 May.
