A few people have recently asked me about Breathwork.
“Isn’t it just Breathing? I Breathe every day.”
My answer is usually another question:
When was the last time you truly sat in stillness and observed the way you breathe?
Noticing whether your breath is shallow or deep.
Feeling your belly expand, then your chest rise.
Noticing the rhythm of your breath and the beating of your heart.
And then going deeper.
Moving your awareness from your head to your heart.
From thinking to feeling.
Becoming aware of what is happening within your body, right here, right now. In this present moment?
When was the last time you sat completely by yourself, with no phone, no music, no television, no conversation and no distractions?
Just you, your Breath, silence and stillness.
Because Breathwork isn't only about the inhale and the exhale.
It's also about the pause between the Breaths.
That tiny space where everything becomes quiet.
That's where the stillness lives.
Through conscious breathing and slowing down, we can support the body in shifting from fight or flight toward rest and digest, engaging the vagus nerve and parasympathetic nervous system and creating space for greater nervous-system and emotional regulation.
And sometimes, beneath all the noise, we rediscover something remarkably simple:
Stillness. Peace. Presence.
So perhaps the question isn't, “Why breathwork?”
Perhaps it's...
When was the last time you truly stopped paused and felt the stillness in between the Breath 🌅.
Sitting in the "Gap" can feel unpleasant.
Breathwork it's about feeling good. It's about sitting with what is, in the present moment and allowing it to be there and welcoming it in.
